About This Content

January 1929,

The victory of the Guomindang (GMD) in the Northern Expedition was supposed to bring an end to warlordism in China.

But has it really?

As discussions on general disarmament continue, many regional factions within the victorious coalition grow increasingly wary of Jiang Jieshi's expanding power.

The Guomindang strongman is now relying more heavily on a close-knit circle of supporters from Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party is swiftly reorganizing. Though its strongholds remain scattered, they are steadily growing in influence...

DLC Content

Main Events

This DLC covers the years 1929 and 1930.

These were far from quiet years!

Here are some of the key conflicts featured in this DLC:

  • The Central Plains War (1929-1930): The last and bloodiest of the great warlord wars.

  • The Sino-Soviet Conflict (1929): A fierce struggle for control of the Chinese Eastern Railway.

  • A failed 1929 comeback attempt by the warlord Zhang Zongchang in Shandong.

  • The failed 1930 summer Communist offensive aimed at capturing key cities.

And of course, rebels everywhere!

New characters

This DLC adds 85 new characters to the game.

The Communist roster gains a wealth of new officers, spies, and even talented statesmen.

New actions

  • Communist spies can now develop covert shops, safe houses, and Red Roads to supply the Red bases.

  • Radio towers: A powerful district policy to enhance your control.

  • Radio operators: A Communist army buff that boosts the agility of your guerrilla units.

Green Gang

Did you enjoy playing as the Green Gang in the Shanghai Uprising scenario?

Well, the Green Gang is back!

Vicious underground struggle in Shanghai

Two factions now have a gameplay set primarily focused in Shanghai—prepare for a vicious spy war with assassins lurking around every corner.

Communist groups

For those of you eager to play as Communist factions, there are 6 distinct groups available, each with an intriguing roster of characters:

  • Jiangxi

  • Fujian

  • Hubei

  • Jiangxi

  • Jiangsu

  • Shaanxi

Some of these come with an extremely high level of difficulty.

PS:

It was truly fun and interesting for me to work on this DLC.

The documentation phase felt never-ending, as I kept falling down rabbit holes over and over again... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
