Q: I uninstalled Decent Icons (1 or 2) and it still tries to launch when I start Windows

If you have encountered this issue, I apologize. I am actively looking for a good solution to this issue.

Fix: If you go your Startup programs directory by opening Run (WinKey+R) and typing shell:startup, or by navigating to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, there should be a shortut to Decent Icons there. Delete it and the program will no longer attempt to auto-start.

Also in Task Manager, under the Startup tab, make sure Decent Icons is disabled.

Q: Why isn't Version 2 being published as an update for Decent Icon?

I've spent over a year completely rebuilding the program from scratch on a completely different framework. It's a very different program with a lot more features.

However, some users were happy with the more simplistic Decent Icons 1, this way will have the option of staying there or trying the new version if they're curious.

Also both apps are packaged together, so it is free for all owners of Decent Icons 1.

Q: How do I make Parallax Icons?

Pretty short FAQ. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't get it.

how do I move the icons themselves to the right places, namely the full icon and not its image?

Yes it does. I have my app customized like i want and it runs (almost?) anything you want it to run. Make a shortcut for your origin/ubisoft game or anything else really and flick it inside the launcher. After that you can delete the original shortcut if you want and run/customize it with the decent icons 2 launcher.

I even have some more complex shortcuts when I run games. For example I set a shortcut to silently run a batch file which puts a whole game into a ram disk, optionally changing the screen resolution of my desktop if needed, running the game and waiting for the game process to close to revert back the resolution and saving+unloading the ram disk. This is not a feature of decent icons 2 but I'm just saying it runs any (i think) shortcut you make. Some of mine just do a whole lot. :P

Actually there could be issues with launching some games that require a launcher. As long as the launcher requires you to run the game from within the laucher, or the game's shortcut calls a launcher's function without pointing to an executable (like steam's "steam://rungameid/xxx", which DOES work), it may not function correctly. With steam its also easy since you can use the steam.exe with the -applaunch parameter as shortcut. If you can use a launcher's .exe parameters to run a game it will definitely work.
