Hi. I've just got an HDD to experiment with load times and see if I can optimize this at all, so I will do some playing around and get back to you.
It sounds like the load times are due to the sheer amount of images it attempts to load, but I will investigate the issue.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
It's great to get some data about it so as not to move everything to the ssd and reconfigure before knowing for sure.
It only caches the .ico files from icons you add initially, everything else pulls directly from the original file, even Steam store images pull them from the web.
I could implement a cache but it I didn't want Decent Icons to build up too much bloat in temporary files.
