So it feels like cops are broken, in they are ALWAYS significantly stronger than any sort of defenses we can put up. :/ I'd much rather put a bunch of money into assassinating the Police Chief and get some stooge in there that I can control instead.
So, I unlocked and employed the 5-shot shotgun booby trap. Watched the cop attack come in (After I removed the entry doors.), and watched at least one or two walk right through the shotgun attack area. No dead cops, much less injured. Which got me wondering. I know my guards fought back. But I don't think I'd really noticed ANY dead cops after the fact. Is it me, or do the cops just not take ANY damage?
I am having a similar problem when it comes to the bear traps, the cops just pass right through them, did the Gun traps end up working for you because I just spent a lot of money placing them down hoping theyd do something before the next attack, were you able to find a way to solve the cop issue?
I can confirm this works. they leave after 3 game hours if they can't find a way to get into your factory (just make sure all your dudes are inside when you do it). it seems odd that the game doesn't pause during the dialog as most games do, almost as if it was intended. in fact the game just keeps going. you could almost just ignore the request entirely and keep playing the game except that the dialog is rather large and in the way. just seems like this whole feature was slapped together without any thought or testing. at least its easily cheesed...for now...
<edit>
I can also confirm that the vacuum chamber trap also works very well. you just need to put the vacuum pumps behind three or four heavy doors to slow the cops down.

It is just another fact that shows this game is still being developed. but apparently, you don't get introduced to the mayor until you make stuff other than weed, and the most basic weed financially is more valuable than the other two.
I've never tried this it seems a little bit much for me as a casual gamer but I've heard people saying it's the only way to deal with cops.
before you meet the mayor the cops are lame and don't ask for much and never really destroy your stuff.
I also heard that when you upgrade to a new drug never sell it retail only on missions that deliver in person. you can do this and get enough millions until you are ready to go full retail. the cops won't treat you as if you have developed a new drug until you sell it in a retail front. so you can play the game like this.
All this seems like a cookie-cutter strategy, so I stopped playing the game until it is more conventional
oh and yeah guards do nothing after you have met the mayor, but prior to that they have some use. after meeting the mayor it is best to just fire them currently in the games current condition.
