Of course, we will add support in that area if it is missing.
If there are areas where you would like to extend functionality with plug-ins, but do not think it is currently possible, please send us a request. We believe that in many cases this is already possible, and we would be happy to advise you.
The shaders are already arbitrarily extensible, although the description/documentation is not yet available at this time.
Copy and paste one of the existing cg files into [install path]\lib\sysresource\shader\Builtin\ and rewrite the GUID around line 5 and you will see that you have more shader options when specifying materials.
