Progress Update - 21st May - Lots of QoL features
Hi everyone!

I’ve continued to be very busy, you can take a look at the #unstable-announcements channel on the discord to see exactly what I have been up to, it’s been pretty full on!

I spent about a week there just focused on optimizations, and I made a lot of good progress, with a number of big wins. There is still more to do as always, but overall if I can’t find more time to optimize between now and the initial public release, it’s still good enough to start with.

So with that done for now, I moved on to a mixture of quality of life enhancements and bug fixes. I’ve been ticking off a few nasty things that have been lurking for some time, but introducing a few new bugs too as I go, that’s just what happens. As long as the new ones are easier to fix than the old ones, I’m making progress!

I’ve added a bunch of new quality of life features too, like dragging to plant trees quickly, prioritization for long distance orders, automatic food gathering when starving, no overlapping constraints for building, multi-select and gather for all plants, and a bunch of other things too. All of these things are starting to add up!

I’m now working on another one of these kinds of problems, which is making sleds easier to use. This mostly comes down to routes being overly complex, so I’m redesigning a lot of the UI for route management to be just generally much tidier and simpler. I wasn’t really sure what routes would be used for when I implemented them, but I have a good idea now.
