Stuck looking forwards

Sometimes when im doing something, my character will stick looking in one direction. If i try to look left or right, it does, but then quickly clips back to the forward view. Ive tried double tapping things, using numpad asterix, everything!

This is a feature. If you want to look in another direction you need to use the Alt key and mouse. If you want a more dynamic experience WRT view direction you need a different controller setup like FaceTrack or TrackIR.

^this person is wrong and this is not a feature,

yes we are aware you can press alt to look around or lock it in place but this is unrelated to that

if someone can find an actual solution to this other than restarted the game that'd be great

if it is your free look stuck on then double tap left alt will fix it if it is something else I don't know

From memory, this might be caused by an additional input believing it is controlling the free look and snapping camera back. I have something like this while using the view system using my hotas and the view will snap back when I release the direction.

it seems to only happen when i use a personal armory mod, which basically renders it useless now.

I've had the same thing happen to me today, never had it before. It's like my view just rubber bands to face back in one specific direction, definitely not freelook related.
