The United States Special Operations Command Realism Unit that strives to replicate the missions and combat style of our real life counterparts, while also maintaining a fun but challenging mindset towards missions. Our unit boasts a selection of varied roles within our ground elements, including Medics and TACPs. We also incorporate an Aviation detachment separated into Rotary flying varying airframes ranging from transport to heavy hitting CAS like the MH60 or the AH-6.

This post will focus specifically on the recruiting of JTACs (AF TACP), and Rotary Wing Pilots and Officers. Those interested in positions on the ground such as infantry, medic etc can feel free to add or reply as well.

The TACP/JTAC pipeline is realistic, and can be completed in a short amount of time. After enlisting with our unit as an Airman Basic, you will go through our unit's Basic Training (OSUT) it is a combined basic training for all branches/detachments within the unit. As of 12/25/2018 we offer OSUT waivers for experienced players who believe they already have basic arma knowledge and the skillset to move on to more role-based training. After you have completed OSUT, or submitted the waiver you will then enter the TACP School House, the schoolhouse will asess your current skills, strengths, and weaknesses. (TACP School house is two/three , two hour sessions on average but can be completed in one session). After completion of the School House you will then enter the 17th STS , Detachment 1 , at Hunter Army Airfield for your Joint Tactical Air Controller certification, once certified as a JTAC you will be issued a post. Promotional oppurtunities are widely available within the STS provided you meet pre-reqs.

Aviators interested in flying in the USSOCOMs 160th SOAR detachment may submit an application immediately to the SOAR detachment;
As of 12/25/2018, we offer a waiver allowing for new applicants to earn a warrant officer candidacy without meeting a prerequisite grade of E-5 in an attempt to strengthen the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. This waiver is nullified in February 2019.

Aviators looking to lead and train fellow aviators of the 160th SOAR may apply directly to become an Officer Candidate.
