NIMBY Rails

NIMBY Rails

Few suggestions
I started playing three days ago. After tinkering (building a railway network for the Antilles), I started recreating the entire French railway network (TGV, metro, funiculars, tram, tourist train) (and maybe the European one, but we'll see).
However, I'm still a beginner. And I've noticed a few little things that will be (for me) quality-of-life improvements for begginers.

- Sound. Especially when selecting different elevations or if the railway isn't valid after being drawn. (Far too many times, I thought I selected a bridge, when I actually clicked next to it, or the game didn't understand (?). Now, I use keyboard shortcuts...)
- Improve/finish the wiki. It's incomplete. Pages like "how to create a station" aren't done, even though there are lots of small details and actions that should be referenced for beginners. Even if they can be written in-game, they can remain unclear, especially if the player doesn't speak English fluently.
- Include more keys in the help / Or create a help/hints page. I discovered by chance while searching Steam discussions that the insert key is great and allows you to rework what you've built, instead of razing and rebuilding...
- A button to expand stations (prefabs). Given my task, I don't create all the stations in France; I spam the creation of the basic station. However, in some cases, it would be really nice to be able to click on the side of the station and add a side stop / a railway / a platform, and thus expand the station's width. - Ok, this last point is maybe just for me, but I find the timetable system quite opaque, maybe I didn't dig deep enough (I don't really need to anyway), I didn't really understand how to tell the trams on a line for example to only run between 6am and 1am. It's a shame there's no tutorial on the wiki, at least there are Youtube videos.

It's probably easiest to get help quickly on the Discord forum, there is a link in the General Discussions under pinned topic Quickstart guide and wiki. There are native or fluent French speakers there too. There are definitely many shortcuts and keys and techniques in the game for getting things done, but documentation is certainly not great, and various aspects of the game are complex too, just like railroad operation is.

There are many types of tracks available in the Workshop, not all of them create conflicts with roads - that's just a configurable track setting - so perhaps could make your life easier.

It is very easy to add more tracks or platforms to a station. Just build a track anywhere near, select it, and there is a Promote button with a pull down menu, and you can add these selected nodes to become platforms for the station. You can also find prefab stations in the workshop for various stations. Even if they aren't for France you can use them there or learn from how they are built.
