Dune: Awakening - F.A.Q.
What’s the difference between the game Editions?

All editions include the base game, with any pre-orders awarding the Terrarium of Muad’Dib base decoration and the Sunset Dye Swatch.

The Deluxe Edition also offers the 5-day head start (available now), along with the Sunset Dye global Swatch, Season Pass, and Sardaukar Bator Armor.

The Ultimate Edition includes all of the above plus the Dust Rider Sandbike Swatch, the Blue Dasher Ornithopter Swatch, the Caladan Palace Building Set, the Dune (2021) Film Stillsuit, the Digital Artbook, and the Digital Soundtrack.

How do I access Deluxe and Ultimate Edition content after purchasing?

Swatches are accessed in the in-game item customization menu and can be switched at any time.

Armors, the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, and the Caladan Palace Building Set are unlocked as schematics, and must be crafted.

The Soundtrack is unlocked as a separate product on Steam.

Finally, the artbook can be found in the game files where you’ve installed Dune: Awakening.

How does the head start work?

The head start lets you play five days before the main launch. The servers available during this time will also be available to players starting on June 10th, when the majority of servers go live.

Does my progress carry over to full launch on June 10th?

Yes, all progress you make in the head start carries over into the full launch.

How do servers work in the game?

The very short version: every World is a group of servers, and you can play with anyone in the same World. Servers in the same World share Social Hubs and the Deep Desert. The Hagga Basin is on a per server basis.

The longer version: we go into detail in our server blog.

How do I visit my friend who’s on another server?
Servers can be filtered by location and you will be able to see which servers your Steam friends are playing on. As long as your friend is in the same World (group of servers) as you, you’ll be able to visit their Hagga Basin and play with them. You can even build with them, but you can't establish your own base - you can only do that on your home server. In fact, you can visit any server, even if no friend is playing there.

You pick your home server in the game lobby, before character creation.

Can I play on a private server?
Yes, you can! Check out all the details on this page.

Where are the servers located?

You can see them all in this announcement.

What is Dune: Awakening’s business model?
It’s a straightforward DLC and Expansions model. No subscription and no in-game shop.

Will there be post-launch content?
Yes! We have big plans for post-launch. There will be free content updates as well as paid Expansions and DLCs. We cover it in more detail here.

What languages is Dune: Awakening localized in?
Interface, subtitle, and all text is localized in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. All voice dialogue is in English, with localized subtitles.

When is Dune: Awakening set? Do I get to play or meet Paul Atreides?
Dune: Awakening takes place roughly around the same time as the first book, on Arrakis, but in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was never born. Instead, Lady Jessica obeyed the instructions of the Bene Gesserit and had a daughter, and from that one event, history took a very different direction. For instance, Duke Leto Atreides survived the attempt on his life and is now locked in a conflict with the Harkonnen over Arrakis and its precious spice.

You will still visit many of the same locations and even meet some of the characters you know and love, and for Dune fans we believe this setting provides a unique way to experience the IP.

Learn more about this in our Story Cinematic – The Vision of Paul Atreides, available here.

If I get killed by the sandworm, will I lose everything?
Yes! The sandworms represent what is perhaps the ultimate danger on Arrakis, and you must take care to ensure you don’t end up as worm food. Never build in the open desert, stick to the so-called “rock islands”, and when traversing between them make sure you move quickly and with care. Sandworms are drawn to movement in the open desert, and while there is a certain grace period involved, if you stay there too long, they will find you.

Part of the fun in Dune: Awakening is learning how to avoid them and manage the risks. Once you get to the Vermillius Gap, you’ll start seeing spaceships crashing into the open desert, and these have loot ripe for the taking. Can you make it out there, salvage what you can, and make it back to safe ground before the sandworm comes?

That said, the first time you get killed by a sandworm, the penalties are milder. That’s your chance to learn, and if there is one thing you need to do on Arrakis to survive, it’s learn from your mistakes.

How do I report any bugs or issues I encounter?
If you run into any issue, please let us know through the in-game bug-reporting tool, and we will investigate it as fast as possible.

SERVER LOCKING

The Dune: Awakening servers have a mechanism that kicks in when there is a very high level of player activity within a certain timeframe. The system sees that the server is becoming too popular and prevents new characters from being created. This is to ensure that servers don't become overpopulated, something that could result in queues.

These server locks are temporary and the system periodically checks to see if it's safe to remove the lock. This happens several times within a 24-hour window.

If the player activity level exceeds an acceptable threshold, the lock remains in place. If the activity level is within an acceptable range, the lock is removed, allowing more players to create characters on that server. Please note that this threshold dynamically updates to balance the server activity, which typically results in more slots opening up over time. However, if a server is very popular and has a lot of regular activity, it may take longer for the server to unlock.

The entire World that had the server I wanted to join was locked!
Worlds are not supposed to lock, only individual servers. This was an issue that we have now resolved.

I want to play with my friends, but the server is locked. What should I do?
If a specific server you want to join is locked, you can check back regularly to see if new slots have been enabled. You can also choose to start a character on another server in that World, and then visit your friends' server. As a visitor, you can do everything except claim land. So you can play together, progress together, and help them build on their plot of land. You can bring anything with you across servers.

I can't see my server online, what do I do?
If you cannot see your server online, please wait 10 to 15 minutes for it to come back up. Our automated system brings servers back online when they go offline.
If your server has been offline for more than 10 to 15 minutes, please contact us through our support page or tag a community team member on Discord.

When do daily restarts happen in official servers?

Oceania: 7:00PM UTC
Asia: 09:00PM UTC
Europe: 03:00AM UTC
South America: 08:00AM UTC
North America: 10:00AM UTC

How important is the class selection at the beginning of the game? Does it lock me out of other classes later?
The class you choose at the beginning of the game determines your initial abilities and unlocks certain conversation options. However, you can learn all classes later in the game by finding and learning from the appropriate masters.

Thank you all so much for your support. Now, a new journey begins...

And when the time comes for you to face the worm, you must not fear, because fear is the mind-killer.

Same, gonna refund if thats not sorted soon:steamthumbsdown:
just saying if you offer a game to be early play and you cont play it there needs to either be some post or message letting people know whats up or something to offer for the inconvenience or people will refund
Good evening, it's annoying. I spent almost two hours just creating a character. Another hour to finally connect to a server, and once I finished the tutorial, another bug. It's another two hours because it's impossible to connect. "Network error."
"Response timed out for connection request P34."
So in total 5 hours of waiting for the PC game to restart, turn off and turn on the connection and only 15 minutes of tutorial. I paid for the deluxe edition to play 5 days in advance but I only played 15 minutes on the first day and wasted 5 hours, I regret having done it. I think I will ask for a refund
ps : This is a translation because my English is very bad.
Can't join the world my friends are on, never mind the specific server. Thats a refund for me dawg.

It is a pure shame. after hearing that private servers were going to be available I got in and went to make one... well nope i cant because they are all locked behind paywalls. i have to make a subscription to a third party company to make a private server... well im out then sorry to say but refund requested. oh and saying that "private server" is misleading when you can't customize or do anything with it other then turn on all pvp or a couple other small tweeks. as for the claim that the system cant be made into a private system because of the large amount of mmo properties is bs. they did it to wow years ago. and that was just a modding community that figured that out. you dont need to unwind anything. the promotion of pvp will kill the game. it always does.
