Unstable Connection
Would anyone have any suggestions as to what would be causing an unstable connection in MP for this game? Ever since the suppressor update my buddy and I get wild ping readings maxing out at 999 that bounce all over the place every few seconds throughout trying to play, and it only happens in DK2. It causes substantial weirdness in paths flipping all over, operators clipping through walls, endlessly replicating a path back and forth due to lag spike when drawing it, watch commands canceling out, etc ...

We've checked game files through steam, we aren't running any mods that change gameplay, just workshop maps, and even on default maps we get this wild lag. Prior to the suppressor update there were no issues and other games my buddy hosts do not have any new lag issues, so we're at a bit of a loss as to what to try at this point.

Hi,

please post log.txt file located in
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\KillHouseGames\DoorKickers2\
using pastebin.com

The game use the Steam p2p connection protocol. So, please make some tests about packets loss and issues with P2P connections.

Thanks.

You should add me on Steam and ping me to play some games, curious as to what's going on. If anything, it should work much better after the latest updates.

hi there. me and my friend are experiencing the same problem of not being able to play because of the ping going right to the top. Are there any fixes for this after 3 years?

hi there,

here is the link to the log file on pastebin.com (https://pastebin.com/MaFKZaPm).
Also i have tried the links you provided and have zero packet loss and the bufferbloat gave me an A rank so dont really think that would be the problem.

Go to Steam - Settings - In-Game and set Steam Networking to "Friends only".
Let me know if that changes anything.

I got nothing. Sometimes Steam's peer-2-peer networking framework just can't setup a connection between players due to various ISP settings and routers along the way. For example you might be able to play with someone else, but not with your friend. This usually fixes itself after some time, but can't guarantee it.

A proper solution on our part would be to use dedicated servers, but that is not something we plan atm.
