However, with the exception of Rei's Saikoroshi-hen (which serves as the series epilogue), they're mostly side stories.
There are a number of other arcs from the PS2 version, but unless the remains of Alchemist relinquishes their death grip on the rights to license them, they almost certainly won't be making it over in any official capacity.
The entire main story arc is now available on steam.
And most direct sequels sell less than the previous entry. That said, the steamspy sales do not bode well for the future at all...
I guess they'll just go through with it because mangagamer didn't announce anything about changing it.
Is there a list or something, that myself and others who don't understant Japanese can see and compare? As an exemple, If I finish this chapter, I have read 8, acording to you 6 more, meaning 14 official in the best case senario. However, taking in account that I saw it saying final chapter, I'm taking this is the last chapter they will officially relase. meaning I need to read the rest 6 (whos name I don't even know) from a fan translation. And yousaid about other arcs from PS2, meaning there are more than 14 chapters?
Where? In MangaGamer's Twitter? It doesn't say that on the Steam store page, or in MG's store.
I don't believe so. They're using "Hou" in the titles, and Hou includes those additional 6 arcs, including 3 that were not in sound novel format before. It would be misleading to use it and not include those arcs.
That much is true. There are a number of other arcs not included in Hou, that were on consoles. For those, you'll need to either know Japanese or use fan translations. Well, 07th Mod[07th-mod.com] is working on that for the PS3 arcs.
Thanks for all the details. I need to finish this game and will need to go thogh everything you wrote. I'm really scared they will stop continuing the series if the sales keep decreasing...I really don't get how people can stop reading this game. I find them masterpices, so complex and detailed. And no, I don't care about small issues as there is nothing in the world that perfect, I enjoy this series a lot, so I really don't get how people don't continue supporting and reading it.
I really don't remember were I was that its the finaly chapter, and like you said, I look up but no were its says being the last. Thogh, in extra - staff, its said that this is the story finised. I guess the rest is follow up, what if, etc.
In Higurashi Rei, the only important chapter would be Saikoroshi imo. For Higurashi Hou, the Bus Stop chapter is a short prototype for Higurashi while the others two are a side story.
Thank you! this makes it really easy to understend how things are. And now it makes sens more me why it was said in the afterwords that the story is over, as in main story (chap 1-8). I really hope more will be released. Since with time, I'm sure more and more people will pick it up even if now it dosen't do well.
No, you don't need to. Rei makes some minor connections between Umineko and Higurashi but it was written after Umineko I believe.
