Exactly what it says on the tin

Hey Salti! What would that look like to you? Just a mode where the game doesn't have an ending?

essentially yes but i'd imagine that it would be a gauntlet of maps, the occasional recruitable unit on those maps, with shops inbetween fights, the shops would have items and weapons and a unit you can pay for and keep forever so long as they don't die, maps getting progressively larger and harder as time goes on.

Gotcha! Nothing like that is specifically planned, but that sounds like a fun idea for a future expansion once the base game is done. I'll consider it! :)
If i can follow up - will there be repeatable/optional battles?

Hey thebodynutritious! There already are optional battles in the game: you can do pickup fights in the arena at pretty much any time; depending on what's available on the jobs board, you can send characters to engage in caravan guarding fights for the caravaneer's guild or cavern spelunking battles for the explorer's guild; and there are also optional side quest battles that become available every now and then based on the day's random events.

+1 to this suggestion.
Some endless sandbox is real needed. Maybe with some events.
old thread but +1 for sandbox.

I actually just want to have the same game, but with more explorer's missions and no investigation bs that steals my job board so no caravans and no explorer's.

Oh and more dynamic arena fights would be nice (more opponents is really all that needs to change in sandbox mode).

What I would like, as an extremely simple (I think?) implementation from what already exists:
1. Extend calendar, just make it something really arbitarily long.
2. RNG exploration/caravan missions with some dynamic factors
3. No investigation at all, instead make some of the quests you do during investigation be random one off events (blacksmith rescue is an example of one that could be a rng event)
4. Add one more arena rank and just make the mobs be higher levels (this might be the hardest to do? idk)

I tried to make an "endless" fake with the campaign editor but I didn't see a way to just extend the calendar or trigger events after a specific time. I was going to make the "ending" proc after like a calendar year, lol.

Yeah, some more RNG for the exploration/caravan missions would be nice. Like, you could have a bandit leader with good gear (and loot :D) show up sometimes, or maybe you're escorting something or someone extremely valuable and get more professional enemies (think mercs or assassins instead of bandits).

Thinking about it, it would be nice to have another side job, one I think would fit right in; bounty hunts. These would be harder than explorations (maybe even make enemies have gear) but would have greater rewards.

Thanks for the feedback!

...
3. No investigation at all

Just FYI: you can do 1 already via custom difficulty settings; 3, you can always do by just ignoring the investigation and choosing to do other things with your time.
Custom difficulty settings? Is that something you unlock?

I also was blind and part of my complaint was that I thought the job board went away: but it doesn't. You just have to 'arrow' to it. If the campaign has no calendar limit and you just ignore the investigations then I don't really have a complaint.

Nope--just click the 'Next' arrow on the right side of the screen when choosing a difficulty at the start of the game!
