Didn't know I could return to Prime once I left. Thought it was a one way trip. Have you tried that?
You can basically travel back and forth as much as you like, but it will cost you the materials for 1 travel rocket each time. Eventually it won't be much of a big deal, because you will gain the ability to create or easily buy all the fuses and quartz you could wish - with the current exception of magnetar quartz, which possibly might occur in the new toxic planet for the upcoming-sometime-this-year second DLC... or so the current theorizing has run...
And for those into trade rockets, I am surprised nobody has mentioned the incredible amount of terra tokens you can get for a load of energy fuses, once you can make them - at 6,000 terra tokens each, that's 150,000 terra tokens per load... whew!
Thanks for the info. Materials and terra tokens are not a problem... Got 1,600,000+ in tokens, and 14 rows by 33 lockers full of materials that I have accumulated on 30+ salvaging missions (maybe 40+ missions, lost count). My base is built entirely on the lake and really didn't want to leave it yet. And yes, got most of the tokens by salvaging and selling fuses. :)
ADDITION:
If I have to I'll back up my savegame, find out what it takes to get the blueprint and come back, and then do it again if needed. I would really like to have the T2 recycler, as putting in one item at a time and hitting the button is way too tedious for all the stuff I have to work on.
just get enough to build an excavation rocket, fill it full of materials needed for specific things you need to build, including an evcavation platform and a rocket as well as a fusion reactor and some T5 machines to kick start the terraforming process. it should be far enough in on short order to unlock.
if in doubt on when, build the blueprint screen on selenea and take a look at when it will unlock.
I leave Prime fairly early, go to another planet or moon, get it going, then either go back to Prime for awhile or on to another moon or planet, in a wash, rinse, repeat sort of pattern - each time leaving the current world to 'cook' on it's own for awhile as I'm working on another one, then going back to it later. Kinda wonky maybe, but it works for me!
The IP shuttle unlocks on a system terraformation index a bit after the excavation shuttle and of course that IP shuttle schematic isn't going to unlock itself. Besides as mentioned:
You can't trade yourself back and forth on the IP shuttle. so you do need those resources to build that rocket regardless (be it right then and there or later on by way of IP shuttle), even if you got a planet you don't need to go back to, there are two more ahead you need to head for after you finished on the one you landed on.
After that, you will be able to bring ANY resources to the new planet. Including those needed for the evacuation rocket and the extraction platform. Everything that was available on the previous planets will be available on the new one.
So I repeat - when flying to a new planet, you DO NOT NEED to take with you resources for an evacuation rocket and an extraction platform. You need to take the resources for one fusion reactor and one shuttle. After that, EVERYTHING else will be freely available to you. You can build as many rockets as you want (if you have accumulated enough resources on previous planets).
UPDATE:
Nevermind. Found it. It is NOT on a "slope of a rock up and to the right". It is in a hole in the ground very camouflaged and hidden.
So where are the alternate game endings? And what happened to the smugglers being a choice? The only choice I seem to have is to run the extraction again and get the same results. ??
As for me - if you have the DLC - it's better to fly to Humble and do the Starform Robotics ending, it's clearly the best ending in terms of certainty.
Thanks. Actually, I JUST figured out I needed to put the solar quartz in the cargo box on the rocket. Then I got the second choice. And it had no choice to go to a moon either. So I was about to load the 10 Wardens keys into the rocket and see how that turns out. All I'm trying to do is go to Selena, but haven't been given the choice in either ending #1 or #2.
As far as I know I have the DLC, but it's not coming up in the endings. I have been assuming that steam automatically updated my game with it at some point. Is that not true? Or is there something I have to build before given the option?

Flying to Selenea (or any other planet) is NOT the end of the game, you can always go back.
But some endings are specific to a particular planet. For example, to get the ending for Starform Robotics, you will need to build a rocket for extraction on Humble.
So if you're on Prime, you first need to fly to Humble, complete the story there (collect 15 logs), and build a rocket for extraction there.
Thanks, you're right. I just noticed there are 2 rocket choices at the platform. :)
So, just so I understand things, I don't want to end the game at all. I want to go terraform another planet/moon so I have a use for all of the materials I have accumulated on salvaging missions. Given that's my goal, then all I have to do is build the travel rocket and it will give me the option of where I want to go?
