So subs won’t feature a periscope view?
So I watched all the video material Around but I have yet to see a periscope view for the subs. I mean I know SP is much broader game then DW for example, and as i understand it there won’t be target identification for the sub like we had in DW. But I mean come-on. At least a periscope view for playable subs or even a simple binocular view for the surface ships is bare minimum as far as I’m concerned.

Maybe Cold Waters is what you need? Made by same team.

I disagree that it's needed. It's not the scale of action being presented. Your logic would then ask for aircraft cockpit, ship CICs, etc. This is CMO or Harpoon in 3D.

I allready have Cold Waters and it’s showing its age. Don’t get me wrong here, in SP it’s not strictly a Sub experience i wish for, also a surface experience, it’s what makes the game so interesting. But I mean if we can’t use the bare minimum of periscopes or ESM masts, which seem to me not hard at all to implement, it would be a bit of a let down

And no i disagree. I think it’s not like I’m asking for 3d control Rooms and Bridges for ships. We can see from DW that at least periscopes can be done very simplistically and unlike 3d control rooms etc etc, are not at all hard to implement.

Another good example is War on the Sea, where subs & surface ships have very rudimentary periscope & binocular views. I can’t see why it would be so hard to implement In Sea Power, essentially given the fact a lot of the devs were on the dev team on both DW & War in the Sea.

The game already allows you to use periscope, esm, radar and snorkel masts. There is no 'periscope view' but the visual sensors work like in reality.

The focus isn't on individually controlling vessels. It's an RTS more along the lines of Harpoon or Jane's Fleet Command, or CMO god forbid.

Periscope view will be a nice to have but I would think there are things higher up the priority list. Given that this game is set in a age of relatively modern sensors and guided weapons. I periscope view is a must have.

Without this thread I'd have completely forgotten there was a periscope view in Cold Waters.

Maybe the Sea Power devs decided it wasn't being used enough to be worth it.

It's simply not that kind of game. Same reason you don't get to use small arms and command boarding parties.

The game isn't design from that perspective.
It's like asking for a first-person view, or a tank cupola view, in wargame red dragon or C&C.

It's a strategy game instead of a vehicle operating game,

It's a naval strategy game like Harpoon or Jane's Fleet Command. You won't see periscope views, views from ship bridges, etc. This isn't a sub simulator or even a sub action game.

Cold Waters is what you're looking for, or some other sub sim.

Like I said before I allready own CW, besides War in the sea is a similar game and does have at least very simple periscope and binocular views. I’m not asking for first person 3d control rooms or bridge views. I don’t see why just simple periscope or binocular views cannot be done.

Periscope view in the missile age is pointless, and the game is RTS-focused, you're not going to see F-14s from their cockpits either, or the CIC of a cruiser.

For the third time in this thread! Nobody asked for first person Cockpits , controll rooms of CIC,s. But a simple periscope or binocular view ffs! Cold Waters & War on the Sea are RTS focused games which DO feature very simple Peri & bino views. I don’t see the what in the hell people’s problems is with implementing something similar in Seapowr for Christ sake.
