A year later the reviews are still tanking for this abortion of a game. The bugs in the bug thread remain unfixed.
Why would you want taito involved in anything you enjoy?
Christ in a handbag, jaded much? lol.
The Space Invaders collection runs fine on Switch. Would love to see it here on Steam for completion’s sake and because it’s a good selection of classic games. 🤷♂️
Seriously go take a look at the bugs thread and see how active it is with comments from the dev. Look at the extensive update notes whenever this game is patched (lol).
What about this switch bubble bobble port gives you confidence about Taito switch ports?
I love Bubble Bobble but there is nothing to love in this port.
I don’t know what’s up with Taito there. My notion is that they’re not as big of a company as we thought. You see Capcom and Bandai Namco churning out decent collections on multiple platforms. I just don’t think Taito has the same kind of budget and personnel to iron out all issues.
I would pay for a proper port of the arcade game. I will stop using MAME and buy the game if they can release it with no dumb gimmicks. Just the 2D game. I'd give them 5-10 bucks for it.
This game that we are commenting on is a mind blowing 45 dollars Canadian. Almost a year after release.
I refunded it the day it came out, the game ran super fast. Apparently they tied the speed of the game to the refresh rate of your monitor. WTF??? And I was told the solution was to change my refresh rate. GTFO. the solution is to patch the 45 dollar game.
The solution to every single bug that comes up is to support the game and fix the bug. Players are forgiving, Bubble Bobble may be an incredibly famous game but on the PC in 2021/22 it's an incredibly niche interest. It's just awful to drop a game out into the world like this and then cease to do any support.
Sorry to rant but I am just frustrated with this type of thing. Do you remember Windjammers for the Neo Geo? It was unique, a Frisbee game. Some company made a number 2 on the PC. And it's just like this bubble bobble. I want to like it but they just messed it up so much. People who are interested in these arcade games just want to play the arcade games, emulators manage to play Bubble Bobble games just fine.
And here we are, in spite of a thread for bug reporting that was originally created by the developer itself zero bugs are getting fixed.
I get the idea that Taito may be smallish at this point but stuff like improper controller support is unforgivable.
Taito, this isn't the year 2000, I don't need all my arcade games to be 3Dified like 1999's awful 3d version of Pac Man.
The internet was a mistake and we should shut it off.
