Is there grinding to be done?

I'm looking for a game with a decent story, with a good grind to play, something like zenoblade chronicles, more like 2 the better, is this game similar? Except being turn based

Yes you'll pretty much have to grind to max level for the superboss postgame.

Thanks to 2 "secret" pep up techniques, you won't need it as much. One with the Luminary+Jade+ Erik will give you double XP and the rarest drops at the end of the fight and the other one with Luminary+Jade+ Sylvando will replace your enemies with metal slimes.

You definitely don't have to grind, but you can if you want to. As Koby said it'll help with the superboss (though even there it isn't strictly necessary).
