This really is a Steam issue I think. SQEX is never going to see your post and take action but if enough people try to push for STEAM to action they fix this nonsense (they are even locking out non-games....it's really silly)
First of all: Yes, in this case the shop-site is already/still accessable in Germany, since the game is already rated (which in many other cases is missing, too, and therefore even blocking the whole site and every info you could get with it.
And secondly: No, this is not only a Steam-issue, because Steam is only acting acording to the new (excessive) laws in our coutry - BUT you are also right, that Steam could have handled this much better and it is quite silly that THEY don't inform the DEVs about this properly and/or that they don't inform the users/players about the restriction...
Steam is a distribution platform. It's Squeenix's job to make sure their products are in compliance with the law, not Steam's. It's not for Steam to email developers/publishers to let them know about potential issues. Squeenix maintains a staff of hundreds of people, and any one of those people could do a bare minimum of giving a ♥♥♥♥ about their product to make sure it's in compliance with this law.
If you do want this to be Steam's job, get ready for there to be a $5-10 charge tacked on to every single game here to mitigate the cost of the hundreds of new staff members they'll need to hire on.
Ok, but posting on Steam's forum is not going to reach the companies. Why not try official social media accounts where they actually read? Or contact them directly through their website?
I can't imagine a demo for a game would actually be needed to be rated separately, but what do I know.
However, Steam DID handle this ridiculously because they even applied the 'can't buy in Germany' flag to stuff that aren't games.
Thanks for the hints - that's also a possibility, of course (and in some cases it might indeed be the better one - or even the only one).
https://www.square-enix-games.com/de_DE/home might be a good start,
Well, no - I meant more social-media links, like e.g. Dicord, Facebokk or X...
But thanks a lot, anyway.
I think that could be a reason, yes...
