DQIX had online multiplayer hence why I believe it had customization. This game on the other hard is purely a standard single player JRPG. I had a DS but I never got the chance to buy IX btw.
That said it's a very by-the-numbers release that is focused more on representing the entire series than it is on being original, so it's more of a polished release of what's come before without adding a lot that's new.
While graphics are not something I focus on, it's nice that it's the best looking 3D release so far.
Gee, I wonder why.

In fact I hope Toyotaro takes over to keep the tradition because I don't want this series to use the generic anime style of today. Also I don't want photo realistic trash either.
