Tickington has random encounters and the monsters show up often in larger quantities just like in those 16 bit games of the series so you will gain more experience and there's a chance that you're fighting high level monsters that don't have much HP.

Not only this is good for leveling up on the earlier game but it also can give you items before you are supposed to get later on the game. It's also the best place to farm for skill seeds since the mimic chests do re-spawn after you leave Tickington.

Also items unique to it are given like the golden pickaxe that will let you get 4 items from ore deposits instead of 3 etc.
its all good but its makes the main story super trivial. I 2 shot the sand monster in super strong monster mode.

For this reason there's people that prefer to skip Tickington either completely or till the the act 3 by only getting the passports around but not doing anything on it till at the end of the game.

if you spend a lot of time there, yeah, it's probably the most rewarding when it comes to leveling and difficulty until much later on

If you're worried about over-leveling then you should enable the reduced xp Draconian option. It will make enemies lower level than you not award any experience on defeat
I haven't touched Draconian features but yeah that's a good solution. Nice call.
You know I never noticed this, I'm not particularly an enjoyer of the 2D parts of the game as I usually leave it to the end of a chapter or even ignore it until postgame. The only ones I do at first notice is the golden pickaxe and that other one that ends with the innkeeper or whoever she is selling the super secret girl clothes.

Oh it's quite broken and it's very good when I want to finish the game fast and easily. For example it allows you to get the Monarch Mittens on Act 1 and the Cautery Sword as soon as you get to Octagonia as there's a tockle there at the basement area rendering the recipe on Lonalulu useless.

All I remember is that there are enemies that can drop a few weapons you're not able to sell smh.
