Okay, this game just took a turn for the worst for me. :(
I'm currently at the Jinxed Jade and Booga fight. Booga ended up being the first game over screen I ever got and it didn't feel deserved. Jade had a 95% dodge-rate which was just dumb and drained all my MP for the Booga fight. It felt like the game just straight up cheated several times with the most downright unfair advantages to win that I've ever seen in a turn based game. I'm actually tempted to set the game down and stop playing after that because it was like playing Dungeons and Dragons with a Dungeon Master that's an absolute sore loser. No matter how I played that battle out, even if I was 15 levels higher are level 60, there was no way I could win and that's the part that makes me want to stop playing.

I can absolutely take a game over and learn from it, but there was nothing to learn from that game over. It's almost like they just don't want players to have fun from this point on. I've already invested 60 hours into the game but if the rest of it consists solely of artificial difficulty and downright cheating to give enemies the advantage, I'm not really motivated to keep playing or waste time grinding anymore, especially now that I realize it almost doesn't matter how I play or what level I am, it's all down to RNG and if the game feels like letting me win or not.

My characters are between level 38 and 46. I have Dragon Mail +3 on the hero and Hendrik, a Prince's Peacoat +3 on Sylvando and Rab, wyrmblade +3 on both the Hero and Hendrik, the best daggers I can get right now on Sylvando consisting of the falcon knife earring, and the best heavy wand I can have right now on Rab. I should be plenty strong enough to beat him but the unfair advantages he gets are just too OP, especially when he can drain the entire party's MP following the Jinxed Jade fight no less after she dodges 95% of your attacks.

It's a wonderful game which is why this is so irritating, but the combat is miserable when it's rigged to put you at a disadvantage and the only way it can challenge you is by cheating and progressively rigging battles further. I have never seen a turn based game spam status effects the way Dragon Quest 11 does and make them absolutely devastating to the player, but barely a trifle to the enemies. I prefer the challenge souls like games provide more because it may be hard but at least it's fair and game overs genuinely feel like my fault that I actually learn something from. Here game overs are just a result of unfortunate RNG.

I think you should have enough medals to have the spike armor. The strongest armor that you can buy on Act 2 is in Gallopolis I think you can go there. Also in Puertio Valor check the book on Don Rodrigo's shelf. I Gondoia rejecting the offers from the merchant brothers will allow you to get Henrik's armor.

Ooga Booga is hard, but this is the part of the game where your accessories matter. Archangel's Boots and Safety Goggles/Protective Pendants help, and more so at +3 due to higher resistances. I really think Eight should use axes instead of swords, but you do you. Having Eight with axes makes him significantly tankier as well as being able to use the Overlord Axe from Gallopolis, which you should have access to and make him do close to the hero's damage if he's using Parallax against Jade. Plus having someone to throw on sap sometimes with Scrap Mettle is a thing. I'm also playing on Draconian, so he just explodes without the shield normally. If you're on normal, that sounds like incredible rng hate which doesn't happen very often.

If you don't want axes, at least get the bandit mail which is also from Gallopolis. Dazzle will flip the entire fight on its head if it lands on Jade, and decelerate will lower Jade's dodge rate by a lot and give you priority on turns.

Just don't bother with dagger skills against Jade, she's immune if you didn't go poison. The only thing I would try to do if you're not using Oomphle/Hustle dance is Starstrike for more dazzle chances. You can make Glad Rags and a Tiara Tremenda which would be much better for him at this point, which I had him use for the rest of act 2.

It really wasn't that bad, it was just the RNG I got, the fact that I was really tired that night and wasn't expecting a fight like that, and the Jade fight that took place prior that drained all my MP. I have 20+ MP restoring items because I've never used them and been saving them since you can't seem to buy them anywhere so I never gave any of the characters one to use in battle.

It turns out though when you die to Booga you don't have to fight Jade again, you can just face him at full hp and mp. So when I tried a second time the next day I utterly demolished him in 4 turns with Unbridled Blade and a couple slaps from Sylvando. I mean both Hendrik and the Hero deal at least 400-500 damage when they use it, add Sap to the mix and they were dealing almost 700. It's crazy to think he beat me after crushing him like that the second attempt. I have 167,000
gold saved up too in the bank to spend on weapons and Armor for the post game content so I'm not doing TOO bad. I'm just annoyed that that's how my first game over played out. lmao

Thank you for the advice though, I can still utilize it as I progress further. I need to get that Bandit Mail you mentioned too. I'm about to forge the sword of light in the volcano so I've progressed a bit since Booga. Iis that Bandit Mail still a viable option at level 58?

I don't yet, but now that I know I can get spiked armor which I assume deals damage to enemies whenever they attack said character, I need to start finding more mini-medals. I can't remember the most recent award I got but the one before it was the Shield bearer accessory.

BTW Alizarin does not show up randomly when you navigate. He shows up on specific areas only.

I forgot if you had to fight Jade+Ooga Booga again if you wipe to Ooga, so that's good to hear. I felt pretty similar on Arachtagon since I got the whole team paralyzed constantly
