Report a translation problem
There are two actions to hold items. You can:
'grab' which acts like you describe. Hold down and the item is in your hand. Let go and the item drops. This is useful for items that you want to temporarily move around.
'pickup' which acts like a toggle. Press it and release to pick up an item. Press and release it again to drop it. This is useful for tools that you want to keep in your hand.
As with any SteamVR application, you can edit the bindings yourself and make a custom setup if the default bindings do not suit you.
