What did I do wrong?
According to the scoring of my pyramid the size and shape were perfect, so how come the weight wasn't? What could I do to make the weight perfect while still keeping the perfect size and shape?

I just revisited this challenge myself, and yeah, it's way too difficult to hit the error threshold that I am using for the weight scoring.

I just pushed a small patch to update it from a 25% error range to a 50% error range on weight. This means you get docked weight score points on a linear scale if you are up to 50% off on weight. Beyond that, you get zero points for weight.

If you have your build saved, you can go back in and re-score it to see if there is much of a difference.

Good to hear! I don't know if I can get back to that challenge with my pyramids still being there since I've proceeded with the others after that one. I might redo it from scratch, if I have to, to get a better score though.

Edit: Noticed that I could "hammer in" Resume on that project, that was nice. So I just hit the bell again and it now says 38/50 instead.
But what I don't get is how the weight can be wrong at all if size and shape are perfect.
I mean, if I make it a bigger size it would weight more and might make the weight score better, but then the size score would lower..I guess?

I'm curious about what could be going on as well. I did some test cuts just to make sure the mass calculation was working properly and everything seemed ok.

The solution is a perfect solution, as in, I calculate the volume of the dimensions on the chalkboard to get the mass objective. The reality is that each cut nips away about an 1/8 of an inch of wood (from the lost wood turned to sawdust). This "consumption" of the saw width of wood wasn't present in the first iteration of vrkshop, which is when I did all the challenge level design. So maybe I need to dig deeper on this one to try to see what's going on.

This error will also manifest itself in some of the challenges that I made that use an entire plank of wood. So the end build will be short by however many cuts had to be made.

If you want to help me try to debug it, send me an email at vrkshop.support@vrkshop.com or message me on discord with your save file and I'll take a look. The file is at [YOUR_WINDOWS_USER_PATH]/AppData/LocalLow/ScopatGames/vrkshop/1.0.0/Pyramids.vrk

Maybe the Weight is calculating right and it's the Dimensions that's too unforgiving. Because, I can be honest and say that it was a little sloppy job on my part.
I'll see what I can do about sending you my savefile. I'm sending it by email in that case.

Edit: Save file sent by email.

Thanks for sending. I think I figured out the cause of this one. It's basically what I described above. The weight for the material that is being removed by the saw blade is not being removed from the total weight of the remaining pieces. Since this challenge has 8 cuts, it adds up to a significant error on the final weight. I'll try to fix this one and give you a heads up when I do. Good find!

Just pushed a patch that now accounts for the weight of the material removed due to the saw blade width from the computed final weight after a cut. I did a trial run on the Pyramids challenge and got a 97%. Unfortunately, you'll have to rebuild to get a better score because the weight is already "baked in" your save file.

Thanks for the help!

Awesome, thanks!
It's fine that I'll have to rebuild it. I'll probably redo them all after I've gotten more used to the game mechanics anyway.
