First, thanks for playing! And also thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and suggestions.
To address your initial comment, it is true that you cannot clamp anything but wood inside of the hand clamps, but you can use the table vise to clamp down the miter blocks (I think this is what you meant when you said "cutting guide").
To your suggestions:
1. A ladder is a pretty easy thing to whip together. You could even share it on the Steam Workshop for others to import into their game and use. You could offer a couple of options like an A-frame ladder or just a simple straight ladder :)
2. Sanding has been suggested a few times, and unfortunately it's a bit of a challenge to implement. The only way I'd be able to implement it would be very similar to how the saw currently works (simple straight cuts), but instead of cuts with two pieces after the cut, one of those "pieces" would just be deleted to simulate being sanded away. This is due to the limitation of geometry needing to be convex shapes.
3. You can nail objects to most of the environment except the workbench. This is on purpose as it is really easy to accidentally nail items to the workbench if it was allowed. You could try using the table vise to hold your build in place, or to build a "harness" that is clamped in the table vise and then attached to your build to keep it more in place. Get creative!
4. See the response to 2 for reasons why this isn't so easy (i.e. this would require convex shapes)
Again, thanks for the feedback. Also you may want to check out the Discord server. There is quite the history of discussion on there about new features, and you can also check out some other players builds: https://discord.gg/8zp6v5D
