Capstone Techs Are they Working?
So my understanding of capstone techs us that they are repeatable and grant the same bonus each time. In my last game I got to the capstone tech in governance (cant remember the name but it gave 10% influence growth). Anyway after the researching it a few times i moused over influence generation on one of my core worlds and only saw the tech applied once. It could have been working but I couldn't tell from the UI.

Anyone know the answer?

Hello Peterhoran!

Capstone techs are not repeatable. They can be researched multiple times, so that you can switch between them, but researching same one, will not give you X times the boost.

Thanks for letting us know about the issue of communicating how it works to the player. I will let the team know :)

There are other techs that seem to function as capstones but don't actually say it. For instance, all the top tier weapons upgrades seem to work that way. Is this true?

If your talking about techs like Cascading Detonations, Higgs Fields Disruption, and Thermal Blooming, they are capstone techs.

Thank you for refining my question. That is exactly what I am talking about. If it said it was capstone tech, it might be more clear.

So if they are repeatable why isn't the the culture one repeatable, balance?

Well, it is repeatable, just not cumulative. If you do another capstone, you lose the bonus until you research it again. But if you research it 2 times in a row, you don't get the bonus twice. (If I am interpreting capstone tech correctly.)

You are they are just there for you to research when you run out of text.

This should be changed to be Cumulative- each time you research the effect applies - this is meant to be an end game mechanic - so it makes sense to keep escalating to help bring about a close of the game.

If this is done the the AI can do it too. You really want that?
I happen to like it as it is and I am one who plays on largest maps and would love +3 moves added each time, remember though on higher difficulties the AI would have +3 x the movement boost % for each one.

@ghost88 Yes I would. However - maybe offer a compromise - just a few more movement techs at the end - end tech should help bring about a quick resolution to the end game.

yes make cumulative but make it more costly. After a while the capstone ones get to cheaper than the regular ones. Make it stack and more costly. Also make the techs stick. So you can bring a quicker end. I am reaching the capstone and I have not got Dreadnought.

Locking this necro post. This was a different version of the game and especially with Megastructures there are many ways of getting around the map.
