Navigator Homeworld; Arnor
Just a lore question, but i noticed today the Navigator's homeworld is Arnor, and it's a high class bombarded world, so my brain tried to put 2 and 2 together.

Is Arnor the (former) homeworld of *the* arnor, or is it simply named after them/a co-incidence?

I've only played against the navigators so i've not read their lore intro, but i know they're former space nomads who settled on the world from the wiki, did they colonize the ruins of The Arnor homeworld, or one of their worlds and have other races seen Arnor before the Navigators?

Not sure but there is a lore channel in the GC4 Discord where you are likely to get a quicker answer as there is a poster there that is deep into the games lore
You see, lore is a dynamic thing. I'd advise you to not see it as, say, Trek canon, cause then you're bound to be dissapointed. There have been several changes to the Lore since GC2 for instance. I'll attribute it to a combo of Brad not remembering some stuff which weren't as fleshed out as others and are old(has said so in Discord on some occassions) and/or rethinking/re-evaluating other bits with additions that weren't in the original lore, but add to the current heading of the franchise. And some that are non-existant in the original lore, but adding them as details doesn't violate it per se, since it wasn't too fleshed out in the first place(eg the additions from the Nyx update).

I believe the Arnor homeworld was indeed caled Arnor and it wouldn't make sense any other way, since the Arnor are practically the first race that advanced as much as they did. the Arnor, with the lore as we know it, where humanoid(including the Dreadlords which are also Arnor), looking alot like actual humans and definitelly not Navigator looking.

Traditionally races that are named a certain way, are living in a homeworld named similarily to them, eg. Arceans-Arcea. Hellenians-Hellas, Croatians-Croatia, Japanese-Japan. While there are exceptions to the rule, eg. Americans-USA, British-UK(which have reasons to be that way), you don't see it the other way. Eg. Germany can be homeland of the Germans only and couldn't have been of the Somalese for instance.

However that doesn't mean the NAvigators couldn't call it homeworld as well for various reasons(The Arnor are generally speaking an extinct or nearly extinct race btw). Eg. they could have been the Dreadlords' pets at the time or a genetic experiment or may have found it in their travels and decided to stay there cause it had so much technology and kept the name out of respect but call it somehow differently internally and between them.

But lore being lore and the changes that can be imposed you could see things radically change even in smaller amounts of time. If it begins, it usually is difficult to stop, think ST: TMP and how different is the ST lore today and keeps changing. So I wouldn't take it for granted and build a castle with its info block, as trekkies have done and are in major surprises each season, but take it as it is and acccept that it may change as much as the IP owner believes it fits their plans for it better.

What you can do is make your own, new, race/species and form a stable lore for it yourself. This way you'll know it as much as you can and nobody can change it without asking you.

The lore and art is for flavor and to spark your imagination while playing. It's not something to take strictly, since how you play and mod the game drastically shapes how each civ's story plays out, or how you reinterpret their histories. If you want serious answers, ask Frogboy to write a GalCiv novel.
