Surrendered ships
Whatever happened to "firing a shot across the bow" to get weaker/unarmed vessels to surrender rather than face inevitable death and destruction? I have been slaughtering scads of Freighters, Colony ships, Probes, and Transports when I suspect the ship captains would really, really NOT want to go with the ship. Not to mention the crews and passengers eager to build the Bridge on the River Kwai rather than being converted to space dust. "Fight to the death" when they can't even fight back seems like such a waste.

Your ordering your ships to attack. You could just as well not do that and let them escape. Their blood is on your hands. Don't blame the game.

I guess the OP means that he would rather have a boarding party take over the ship rather than destroy it.

It is the GAME that mandates that there is NO surrendering allowed. And yes, it is longtime maritime tradition that prizes can be taken and those doing the capturing benefit thereof. In this case, it would be free Freighters, Colony ships (which, given the mechanics of launching a Colony ship means there would also be a free Citizen on board), Constructors, etc.

You can use armed shuttles to capture ships including colony ships and constructors.

Do Shuttles indicate that the capturing ship MUST be a Carrier? Or that there must be at least one Soldier Citizen available?

I'm wondering where these "invader ships" are coming from. Custom designed? I'm nearly through the entire tech tree and I haven't seen any "invader ships" appear in the Available to Be Built listing of my Shipyards.

I'm also wondering if a fleet does contain any invader ships, do the other ships STOP attacking the enemy ships while the attack shuttles are en route? I can easily imagine the shuttles arriving just as the targeted enemy ships get blown to atoms.
