Cant stop cat from chasing his tail

no matter what I do he just circles endlessly, is it me? Or the game? I really would like to finish the game but its so annoying. It says you sway but nothing I do seem s to do anything!

Well since I saw at least one other with this problem and I figured it out its cause I have a trackball mouse. I dug up an old regular mouse and had no problem, cant move it fast enough with the trackball maybe.
