Like every time a yearly historical snapshot comes out, people on Steam who are on a valid yearly Animaze sub will get the historical annual snapshot DLC equivalent at no extra cost (also worth noting the cost of the yearly sub is less than the cost of the 2024 DLC equivalent).
Also yes regarding new features, the 2024 marquee features like hand tracking via Media Pipe support will be part of the 2024 historical snapshot DLC. They, naturally, are not part of the 2022 and 2023 feature sets.
The main reason is that we are now a smaller team (three people) than in previous years when we took external investment and were spending a fair bit more than what Animaze was making, to build up the indie engine features that secure our user's independence from larger corporations.
We don't monetize the free version (with ads or anything) so free users, while numerous, do not meaningfully help us grow the team and add new features.
Paying licenses are the ones that support the bulk of the 2024 development.
If you are a paying customer, thank you so much!
