Centipeda has too much kit
I've been playing for about 50 hours and what I'm discovering is that the boss mechanics and how they relate to the Centipeda make it... challenging, but not in a particularly engaging way.

For one, we have no mechanism by which to predict what the daily boss resists will be - at first I considered that bringing type coverage would be the answer to that, but I quickly discovered that not all weapons are made equal. Frankly, explosive weapons suck: the self damage is bad under normal circumstances, but this is only magnified by the fact that self damage in the late game (infested tiles) is a very easy death spiral.

Getting the BFG is very contingent on RNG and while it's good I would not consider it a contender under all circumstances.

Which essentially leaves you with railguns (kinetic) and high-energy lasers or tesla (energy) for your go-to DPS. Out of the two, in the lategame I would say railguns are the only anti-boss weapon that actually holds up to Centipeda owing to its mechanics, and that's where the core of this post lies:

Centipeda has too much going on.

Between the 75% base resist to $DMG on any given day, you also have to contend with its massive armour plates. Then you have to contend with the fact that (and I may be wrong), the best damage is only dealt to the head. You then have to factor in that your non-kinetic DPS weapons are severely range constrained, which means that if you want to apply constant damage you'll waste most of your DPS on Operarius swarms.

There's also boss regen to consider: if you're stuck in a long period of body shots it appears to regenerate a big enough chunk of that HP back.

And if that all wasn't bad enough, it speeds up as you damage it. Frankly, the last phase of the fight is the biggest complaint for me: having it constantly boosting in a circle and spawning endless Operarius is just... not fun? Not interesting?

tl;dr Centipeda has too much kit and not enough counterplay IMO.

Ok, so how do we even the playing field?

Could an expansion of melee weapons or reduce regeneration fission weapons?
