  • After that, delete all files (if any) in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[some numbers here]\1465360\remote folder;
  • Copy ALL files from %USER_DIRECTORY%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\storage\[some numbers and letters here] to this folder and change the extension from .dat to .cfg;

After that, progress was transfered.

To push achievements on Steam, you need to open the player's in-game profile.

Achievements worked for me, progress also still there.

However all maps are completly blacked out, and seems the trucks I used to have on it are gone to, the ones in the garage are still there but not on map itself, also when you first load in you hear alot noise like something i glitching out, any suggestions?

UPDATE:

okay savegame is most definetly glitched, only in my last map I was in vehicles are in the garage, when I go to other maps enter their garage no vehicles at all, I used to have them spread around multiple garages.

And all other maps are also blacked out with no discovered watch towers.

i somehow screwed up the original save file folder contents because i made so many copies now all the .dat scripts said null (checked with notepad++). well i guess no progress transfer for me :(

i will reinstall the epic games snowrunner again which means i will have 2 snowrunners and see if the cloud save still have my save file then retry

Okay I got the save transfer figured out, much more troublesome than expected.

It seems the files need to be flagged/called by the game at least once by normal playing, otherwise the files won't be read even if they are there.

A save game has 3 main parts
  • Your missions, levels & unlocks progress
  • The map fog (Individually for every sub-region)
  • The map object placements for trucks/trailers etc. (Also individually for every sub-region).
So you need to access all these files at least once in-game normally, otherwise the game will not load them even if they are there. Below are my steps which worked for me.

  1. First copy ALL files in your epic installation (all paths in the previous post by others are correct by the way), put them in a new backup folder somewhere convenient, then rename all the file extension .dat to .cfg.
  2. Next start the game, open a new save, pay attention as you need to start the new game in the same slot number (1/2/3/4) as your original epic save game.
  3. Drive around for a few seconds then quit.
  4. Copy (Not cut, COPY, you'll need them again later) all your renamed files to the steam save folder.
  5. Start the game again, you will notice your completed missions and unlocks are there, but the map fog and map objects/trailers/trucks are not correct. This is because you haven't loaded the maps before, and the game does not know to load those files at this stage.
  6. This the where the tedious parts start, grab your trucks, and drive to EVERY sub-region you have played on before. No need to stay for too long, just drive around, interact with some trailers, trucks etc. This prompts the game to read the associated files.
  7. After doing the above in every sub-region (you have played on before), quit the game.
  8. Copy all your renamed files again, and overwrite every file in your steam save folder again.
  9. Start game and load the save, and everything should be working fine.

tried this. still no luck.

update: it worked. everything is there. money, map discoveries (watchtowers etc)
only the bad news is that i lost almost ALL of my trucks.

(i have about 22 trucks, 20 of them are gone, ive searched the storage etc. cant find em)

2nd update: 7th attempt. i got everything back now. including my vehicles, also in the site it says that watchtowers required to be rediscover again? well in my case pretty sure all of the watchtowers that ive discovered is there. no need to rediscover

Hi there Runners. For me it worked. Marc u are my hero. For a moment I thought about to edit the complete save file (fog from true to false). It´s depends from the Map-Loading how Marc said. I try to uncover all maps seperat again. For Amur it´s perfect now. All Watchtowers are back and the fog is gone. @Marc. When I have enough points again u will get a nice gift from me. ; ) Thx so much for support Buddy.. U made my day. Greetz from DE. But ever use u edited .cfg files to rewrite at the new start.

Mange to get it to work had to remove the completesave.txt file and then everything work properly like it should.

:cupup:

Ok, the Contra was: Epic Savegames Transfer to Steam. But the Pro is: U get the most of the vehicles a second time again., when the map is completly reloaded again. : )

I'm wondering - what was the need to rename every file? Is there something about the Steam version of the game that prevented you from just loading the saves that already existed, from the same folder the Epic Store saved to? This all seems like way more of a PITA than was actually necessary.

Marc, you're a damn lifesaver. Took me a good long while but I've finally got the save transferred properly and everything working. Thank you.

I'm wondering as well, based on other games i own on Steam and based on Steamworks docs, i do not see a reason as to why one would have to rename file extensions

Steam Cloud seems to push w/e files, *.dat, *.cld, etc. and there is nothing in Steamworks docs about this.
