Wow, I'm surprised. I've got 1500 hours on, and as far as I recall it's been the case since the beginning. I just assumed it was part of the game.
I'll look into shooting some video and posting it.
Someone wrote here somewhere that this happens when the game temporarily loses calibration with the game controller. Then it turns the motor off and on again.
I only encounter the issue when playing with a wheel and pedals, with a ps5 controller, it doesn't happen.
The only ''solution'' that i found is to assign the ESC button to any button on your wheel and press it like every five minutes. That way your truck will not stall out of nowhere.
Ahhh....that might explain it. I use a Logitech 920 wheel and pedals. Thanks folks. Mystery solved.
As to the wheel, yes I think there are some Twitch streamers that showed that you can't use the actual 920 settings for it, and to use legacy.
(*BUT I'm just going off memory on that so I can't say for sure it's a thing*)
It is apparently to do with uPnP devices disconnecting and reconnecting and this makes the trucks stall. So on some wheels (and maybe on controller?) you may not see it but for others like the G920, you almost certainly will.
I've also had the other (much worse) stutter issue from day one where it will have massive framerate drops, sometimes 5-7 in a row with about a second apart. After ages searching I found this patcher which fixes both issues for me, but depending on your wheel, maybe not the occasional (and very brief) stalling: https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/pt78i8/i_fixed_the_stuttering_issues_where_your_throttle/
(BTW, this patch is also available for RoadCraft, search for "Roadcraft stutter patcher" or similar, I can't recall the URL now but it was written by the same guy who did the SR one)
I recently switched to a Thrustmaster T300RS and not only do the occasional stalls still happen, but the wheel randomly jerks around now and then, usually when you change vehicles or maps, or even just go from the local map back to your current truck. And when trying to plot a map it's awful, I pick up the controller to lay a map and for some reason I think the T300RS is interfering in the input and turning random amounts, mostly tiny but sometimes bigger, which then rotates the map taking your current point way off from where you wanted to plot it. It's so annoying that I'm thinking about going back to the G920 (which I still have) just for playing SR.
I've spent more hours in this game than any other and I still love it but the whole input and wheel situation and these sort of stutters they just never fix unless it's serious. I've given up counting how many bug fix requests I've submitted on these issues, so I've learnt to live with it.
Btw, for anyone that's new to SR, this page has a really good controller layout for the G920 (and lots of other wheels for many games): https://www.briankoponen.com/snowrunner-logitech-g29-g920-settings/
I use these settings and while there is still no FFB (Sabre's fault not the wheel's) these give me a good feel when I'm driving - YMMV.
