Controls+Options reset almost every game launch

The options and controls reset almost every time I launch the game, excluding video/graphics settings. I have to go through every time I start the game to reset all the options to what I want, which is getting fairly frustrating. I don’t remember having this problem years ago, but now it’s becoming a problem.

I have verified game files already, no effect. I use Thrustmaster T150 wheel. Sometimes a controller alongside because the wheel cannot navigate map (also separate issue where game has poor wheel controls too, and it seems even worse now?), but not always. But almost every time the game needs to be loaded, say like 80% of the time, controls are not saved, FFB settings and wheel settings not saved, sound not saved, options and HUD preferences and stuff not saved, etc., is there any fix I haven’t used yet?

This is getting annoying, do I need to uninstall and reinstall or something? If I do that, will my saves be ok?

Sounds like a problem with your user permissions in windows. If you are not the admin it might not allow you to write. Most games do not save settings in the game folder. It will be in your windows user folder.

This is my computer, so I should be able to give permission to where it needs to be. What should I do then, is there something I can change to make it that setting changes stay?

I see I’m this is a common issue with people using wheels. I googled it myself and there were several threads on steam with ways to solve it.

yeah I did this, first time I must have been blind, but I found someone who had the problem even with the same wheel I had, though not on a steam forum.

I tried this solution from the comments, that was for steam users though,

fix by v1per on steam:

There is a temporal fix for this. Enter the game with your wheel connected to your PC and proceed to assign all the buttons to your liking, once you are done close the game.

Now go to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\Your ID\1465360\remote. In there copy user_profile.cfg, user_settings.cfg and user_social_data.cfg.

Then go to: C:\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\storage and copy the files there, after that change the file extention from .cfg to .dat. With that the game will load your settings every time you launch the game.

so I will leave this here just in case someone else having this problem comes across this. It appears to work with everything except the crossplay setting.
