Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown

Game refuses to start
Hey there first time ive ever really posted anything like this but anyways.

I just went to load this game up it installed the directX 9 files and such but then it just says im in game but nothing happens, im still on my desktop until I close it via task manager.
So then I try again but now, it just opens it does the same thing but comes up with the CD key box again and again and spams it till steam says the game failed due to it running already.

So I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, GIGABYTE ATI Radeon HD 7870 with latest drivers.
Saw (didnt at the time) it said Windows 2000/XP (something like that?) but then had came here and saw it worked fine on Windows 7 with some people. So is anyone else having this problem? I dont even get a blank screen or anything like that or sound of any kind. Uh if theres anything else I need to add let me know.

Alright I fixed it. All I had to do was go to www.gamecopyworld.com look up Rainbow 6 Lockdown and download the 1.9MB - Rainbow Six: Lockdown v1.01 [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE apply it with lockdown exe in the steam folder and it worked fine :D

Also another note, before I even started a mission I would get a black screen with sound. I have 2 screens, disabled one and its working perfectly..hopefully if someone else runs into this problem this will help someone out.

Also just tested another theaory, if you absolutely want/need two screens to work while playing, just alt tab out and back in and it should work. Not sure if that counts as having to do it for each level you do but yeah.

I've found all the Rainbow 6 games on my win7 computer do the same thing. I go to task manager, close the game, then click on the icon on my desktop and they start. Very strange, having to do it twice to get them started.

Yeah it is strange, because for some..it works fine...others it does not.

Hello Bacon, thank you for commenting and in doing so, highlighting your old post with your guide. I have marked it as the thread answer for other players to find too.

As well as the steps that you mention, running our older titles in compatibility mode has been known to fix a myriad of issues (including the game not launching) when playing older games on a newer system too.

We have a guide on how to enable this Windows compatibility mode here if you scroll to the second post >

Awesome, thank you, I believe I attempted that (its been many years now lol) but had no luck. Some people it just works out of the box, others it didn't. I've yet to try it on my current system since. But I always use to run compatibility first before attempting other things.

Good to hear you've been using the compatibility mode option!

If anyone else runs into this issue, in addition to Bacon's fantastic guide on this, we're often able to help troubleshoot further with the help of some system files[ubi.li] - a DxDiag.txt and an MsInfo.txt. The article I've linked there will show you how to find each of them.

Once you have those files, you can reach out to us via our support website[support.ubisoft.com], or via Facebook PM[ubi.li] or Twitter DM[ubi.li], to send them across, and we'll be able to use them to investigate why the game's not starting up.
