I believe this problem also only happened in endless (but I migth remember wrong).
Archers are lazy when many enemies, also developments are lazy to to fix this issue all these years.

Nope, the second screenshot is from the Canyon Keep from the Drastic Steps campaign - it's a war scenario, endless not available on those (without using the co-op glitch).
On both screenshots you can see that archers have are green , not orange - it means that they have regeneration unique upgrade.
So Guardian Archer, Auto Ballista, Snow Cannon and Confusion Flower?
What about Shock Zapper? It's description says "Strikes enemy underneath (...)" - "enemy" singular.
Archers stop shooting when the problem occurs with two items, which are:
1: Too many enemies on screen
2: Too many archers in the map
We do not recall how many archers are placed, but yeah over 15 archers the issue probably starts. After round 25 on endless the archers are useless.
Then you try to tell a co-op player to sell the traps and they ignore you.
Because you get no time between rounds to see 1-4 of your own traps.
