I like the game but.
It suffer from a problem that a lot of these games suffer from. You are restricted to move and shoot. That may sound strange but let me explain.

Classic FPS games had quirks to then like air strafing, strafe jumping and other forms of more complex movement.

This modern classic shooters needs to make their movement more skilled and complex.

I wanted to make a topic with exactly the same name, but with a different "but". So let me just hijack this one instead to complain.

I'v played the demo and quite liked what i'v seen BUT i will not buy the game until some QOL impruvements are made. First and foremost - vertical sync or an fps limit option. Without it my videocard just tries to go to space, putting up an excessive amount of fps. Next is the resolution stutters, the game sometimes tries to revert to some different resolution than the native screen and the general lack of options for settings finetuning.

So yeah, i will consider buying the game (i did like the gameplay and music after all) only after massive QOL/options impruvements.

It has V sync in the full version. The demo just lacks a lot of setting and the FPS cant exceed 120.

dude anyway you can fix this in the NVIDIA 3D settings and/or Rivatunner

On hard difficulty I found myself using what I could with the jumping to do dodge enemies in small arenas when there was no cover. Kind of like what I used to do in counter strike.

Its not strange.
These shooters basically live through 3 things:
Story (which is subjective anyway)
Gunplay Complexity
Movement Complexity

I find this game is too shallow in all 3 aspects.
It has a nice visual style, but theres no real storytelling and the environmental storytelling is not giving a lot.
Movement Complexity is barebones to non existant, you can basically just circle or kite.
Gunplay Complexity is also super shallow, i found the most complex gun to be the one that shoots the leeches.
But theres no alternative fire mode im aware of, you also cant really combine guns and their effects with each other.

Just take Unreal Tournament as a short reference on gunplay complexity.
Take the Pulse Rifle and you can shoot a beam or a ball, but you can also shoot the ball for it to explode.
Other shooters also play with these things, one that was famously popular in recent memory was Doom.
Especially Rocket Launchers saw a rise in popularity in shooters, because you can do a lot with their firemodes.
Primary shoot rocket, secondary explodes it mid air, keep primary pressed to load several rockets, guide rockets with your crosshair to the target.
You can do tons with these weapons without overloading the controls or the game, but more importantly one complex gun like such a rocket launcher with 3-4 different effects and abilities is worth more than a game that spams individual weapons on you with only one firemode.

I think illWill is an ok game, but it is heavily lacking in terms of gunplay and gameplay.
The style is mostly good, although i found it to not work well on outdoor levels, the music was the first thing i turned off completely.
But what it could do is improve the guns, because as of now i wouldnt return to this game to replay it for its gameplay.

Not necessarily, classic Serious Sam for example, you only run and gun with some minor platforming. Same for this game and it's pretty good as it is IMO...

IMO, also. This is a narrowed, straight to the point shooter. With no complexity. I LOVE IT.
AND (for cheaters), it has quick save, so easy as hell.
