Achievements not unlocking
Hi everyone!

First of all, it's a really nice game. Secondly I seem to be unable to obtain achievements in it. Currently I'm at World 6 and there hasn't been a single one unlocking. According to the statistics they work perfectly fine for most people. I play it under Linux Mint via Proton if that makes any difference. I don't know how many - let alone developers - are actually visiting this section (if at all) so I may be asking in vain but has anyone encountered the same / does know about a solution?

Any and all help is much appreciated and thanks in advance! :cozybethesda:

Okay, from what I gathered it seems like some versions of Proton have issues with enabling achievements for games developed in Unity. Which version of Proton are you currently using, and have you tried updating it to the latest release?

Cheers,

Hi,

We do not officially support Linux, but I can try and check what causes the issue. Could you try doing the following steps:

  • Launch the game,
  • Solve level 1-9,
  • Exit the game and go to the ~/.config/unity3d/Afterburn/Inbento directory,
  • Grab the Player.log and Player-prev.log (if present) files and send them to inbento@afterburn.games

Cheers,

Thank you for your quick reply!

I solved 1-9 again (didn't clear my current progress though, I don't know whether that's needed or not) but I don't see an Afterburn directory in ~/.config/unity3d, just a bunch for other games built on Unity. (It's set to show hidden files and folders too so that can't be the problem.) Any tip?

I know Linux is not officially supported (I do hope that maybe someday it will be) but I decided to give this game a try regardless as it looked captivating (ever since it came out on Nintendo Switch I had it in my crosshairs) and so far Proton seems to be doing its job. I can live without achievements as long as I can play the game but it was worth a shot asking here. :)

Thanks again for your time!

Good catch! I'm a relatively new Proton user and without a second thought just assumed that like any other Steam application it refreshes automatically as soon as there's a new version available but now it's clear to me they must be keeping the different iterations purposefully separated not to mess up existing functionality in games it already works perfectly fine with (or so I think).
Anyway, that was the solution to my problem: I switched over from 5.13 to 6.3 and all of the previously attained achievements popped up all at once next time I started the game.

Thank you very much for your useful insights! As trivial as it may seem this step actually didn't occur to me until now.
