If a boss has adds, it's a good idea to keep an explosion gem (single use) to quickly wipe the adds before they take all your health away.
For bosses, reduce their def with Sunder, increase attack with advanced shield gems (cant remember the name), stack burn damage with burn gems, that kind of stuff.
Two healers is recommended.
Well, same thing happened to me on like floor 10. A group of five mobs wiped my entire party like it was nothing. Was so sudden I couldn't do anything.
It seems that the later dungeons require some specific enemy counters, unlike the previous dungeons where you could pretty much go with whatever.
No activated symbols? Sounds like you might be going about it wrong then. Also, you should be focused on bronze units on the first 6 or 7 floors, just to build up as many symbols as you can. You can buy your end-dungeon gold/silver units towards the middle/end. The shops at the bottom floors sell silver units at around 1/3 rate and gold at 10-15%, so it's not hard to get grade 2 gold and grade 3 silver units if you can get past the 2nd boss.
Yes, it'll be 0% at the lower levels. It'll rise as you go deeper; you shouldn't be trying to use gold units at lower levels or you'll end up shorting yourself on symbols.

Some units are great though, Labla + 2 giant swords is great, you can use it every turn and they get buffed by sun combo attack buff
the game goesfrom no challenge at all, to super tight bloated HP bosses in a snap, it feels bloody awful
Granted it was a bad start with not many good combos coming into b5f but that didn't seem fair
(and now I know you can't skip a boss by going to the treasure vault)
Gold and silver are more useful. A gold unit at rank 1 (3 copies) is stronger than a bronze at full rank. But what is most important are the symbols, not the stats of the units. You can max out your team after the 2nd boss - just focus on getting as many symbols built up as you can on the first 6 or so floors. If you get a gold unit you like, keep it, but don't waste gold on them in the shop. Start acquiring silvers at like floor 4 or 5, unless you think you can get 3 copies for a symbol.
The green symbol especially, as getting +100-300 health, per unit, is huge.
Yeah, the tree boss might be a bit too strong in damage, at least since there isn't much you can do to mitigate magic damage. Even the magic defense amulet, at double power with the earrings, don't seem to help mitigate the damage. All of those 2nd tier bosses (tree, sharks, and rock turtle) seem to have insanely high damage relative to their floor. They're beatable, but they're a lot tougher than the rest of the bosses imo.
