1 - First half grab all sinergies you can.
2 - After that i grab 1-2 healer 1-2 dps and 1-2 tanks. No bronze units allowed and aim for gold ones.
Maybe just luck but getting level 2 gold units seems easier with her.
As for OP symbols, beast is probably the strongest DPS symbol in the game. Stack two orange and two beast and you get a backline quad active bombardment to start every fight. You can easily one-shot the witch with this setup.
For the build you mention, I did tried it once but only then get Death as the boss and he destroy my team, which maybe due to my horrible luck and have to refresh the shop too many time to get the beast characters.
I actually like running burn with Zeola (Flame Emperor, Dragon) but I prefer Black Ghost Knight as my tank (does more damage than Gold Return Frog if he's silver'd, since he doesn't stun himself) and Gunse Mushroom (heals are nice but the gem reduction is extra nice).
I actually feel like there are more build options with Zeola because of how diverse of abilities her units have while being decent units in themselves. Although, Death seems really lackluster...
As for symbols; Zeola has a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ symbols (thief is underwhelming, let's be real). But Hermit and Plant are amazing (spell leech is more interesting than it seems, since more of Zeola's units do magic damage than physical). And Brightblade is more overpowered than I think people realize; those debuffs include stuff like freeze and moonlight. So at 4 debuffs and level 2 fairy, you're pulling 148% more damage just by itself. That's how I killed the witch in 1 turn.
And I agree with Cox, the beginning half of the game is way harder with Zeola than with Amelie. I feel like once you get to the 2nd boss and have a decent build, it's pretty easy from there.
And for the Oni, indeed the defense stat is low but he compensate it with a 60 heal every turn (120 with the double attacks buff and additional 50 with White Symbol so he's more tanky than you thought late game).
And about the magic aspect, I swear to god early game with a magic team is almost impossible to pull of if you meet bosses like the Tree or the Stone Turtle, they just decimate the whole team with one skill since the HP for magic units are low.
But tbh, I would prefer if more characters are added in or buffs for some symbols. Bruh even the Ghost symbol does not even work with itself since it just 1 stack and it's gone when the team attack so the symbol itself only works with Ghost type team since they can give themselves Candy buff so the heal will work.
As far as the Candy buff goes. At worst you are getting a 50% damage buff every turn. I tend to use the Maid Ghost as my healer, and the level 2 Candy makes her better. I like to put her in the back in the Combo spot. She makes for a great healer this way.
I didn't realize that enemy magic healed you too. It isn't that low tho; Amelie's healing symbol gives you 8/20 heal and spell leech gives you 6/15. But while healing stays at 8/20 the entire fight, spell leech stacks up to 12/30, which is 50% higher than Amelie's. Also, the value halves at the end of turn, not when attacked, so the enemy's can't force it lower.
Brightblade: AFAIK, everyone is constantly running freeze and either/both shock and burn. There's also no reason to not have moonlight if you can get it. I don't see why you wouldn't be running at least 2 debuffs, which is an easy additional 74% damage.
You make a good point about the Oni tho, he does have a lot of self-heal ability.
Yeah though, I like the ghost symbol but it's only good with one or two ghosts on your team (although Portly Ghost is a solid unit and I also use the Maid Ghost whenever I get candy symbols running). And Zeola's units are fairly weak in the early game which makes it rough, you're more reliant on good spell rolls.
(a disrupt came at a bad time and she one shot the rest of my party, death just solo'd the entire fight with double action necklace)
I don't know how the stacks will heal if it was from ally cuz I never got to build a good magic team up to that point since I always die at the first boss whenever I tried building a magic team early game.
