Auto Chess emphasizes different skills for the most part. Collecting gold interest is perhaps the most transferable skill, but when it comes to party management, you actively and frequently want to sell and swap units in a way that you never would in any major Auto Chess game.
If you are currently chasing max level units while ignoring symbols, particularly Bronze rarity units, then you're doing it wrong. This doesn't play like Auto Chess meta.
I would actually beg to differ on this one, I just think OP might just not be a higher rank in "Auto-Chess/TFT"
I'm a master+ TFT Player and I've played Dota Underlords etc aswell as some auto-chess, and this game is somewhat easy for me, and no, I dont mean the first 3-4 easy maps, I have no problems beating the game and understanding the basic fundamentals. (I mean the tutorial tips screen even tells you that you get synergies when you upgrade them, so its a basic mechanic your SUPPOSED to learn)
So I think OP simply didn't adjust accordingly, also, party management does actually transfer quite well from TFT, its called "playing the best board" or "Rotating" the interest gold thing is just fundamentals with any game that has interest, regardless of genre.
So I think its simply just a case of something else, or that OP simply is overestimating himself, I know I'm good at these types of games since I have really high ranks in both games. (TFT & Dota Underlords, top 1%)
But OP is very welcome to tell us his ranks, so we can adjust our comments accordingly.
P.S: According to steam, 62% of people have beaten ancient labs, I think OP is being dishonest.
