What's the point of the Alchemist?
I've been throwing my face against the witch's maze for a while now and I still have yet to figure out what the actual point of this room is for? Do I need to beat the game to unlock this thing?

on the lower right corner you can buy gems, but the main use of it I still don't know how to use, it's locked for me

In the white manor, you can unlock a meta progression thing that you can see in the abilities section of the field guide. This makes it so you can lock a specific gem at the alchemist, so it doesn't get rerolled when you reroll the alchemist's gem inventory. This way, you can make it easier to roll for a gem that you actually want. Buying gems is the main use of the alchemist.
