Level 5 getting past the first robot / chain fence?
I don't understand what to do here. I can turn the robot off and not get through. Or I can turn the robot on and not get through because the robot looks at me. Portals don't work as there's only one portal slot. There's simply nothing to do.

Level 1 I only got past through holding onto a crate under my feet so I can ump up, no portals, because pulling the crate when you're on top is very difficult.

you can get the cube from that distance. just press the middle mouse button. from here you can pass without problems

Yes as other comment mentions, you can grab a box at any length by just grabbing it from a distance. E.g when the door is open.
