Story mode question.
I've reached the mash tun stage of the story mode and am intimidated by what I'm supposed to do. Not exactly sure how to manage the step of soaking the grains/making the mash in the cooler. Want advice on how to keep the mash at temperature and what sort of tolerances/variances there are before the batch is ruined.

Hey! Thanks for your comment. We would highlight this video which should show you the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-JAFhvEvp8

Hopefully this helps! Thanks for playing Brewmaster :D

I had found that video yesterday, and do not have the attention span to watch a 30 minute video to get an answer to this question. Why does it require a 30 minute video to answer a simple question, could it not be cut down to 10 minutes? Guess I just can't progress through story mode...

Or even better a written guide that I can work through at my own pace and find the relevant information I need quickly.
So friendo of mine found this and it really helped. I have yet to utilize it but it contains precisely the info I desired.

the way i have been doing it is by the following;

Boil Water in Brewing Pot:
Pour extra water into your brewing pot and boil it until there’s no contamination.

Prepare Electric Kettle:
Set the electric kettle to approximately 69°C (or the temperature indicated in the recipe) and let it heat up while you prepare the rest of your setup. This will give the kettle time to reach the desired temperature.

add your grains to the mashtun.

Setup Cooling Coil:
Connect the kettle’s tap to the water intake of the cooling coil.
The water output from the cooling coil should return to the kettle.
Connect the mashtun tap to the wort intake on the cooling coil, and the wort output should return to the mashtun.

Heating and Balancing:
Correct Kettle Temperature: If the kettle is set to the correct temperature, there should be no significant temperature loss in the mashtun. The heated water from the kettle will circulate through the cooling coil and maintain the mash at the desired temperature.

Adjusting the Temperature: Sometimes, it can be hard to know exactly what temperature the kettle water needs to be. If the water in the kettle becomes too hot, you can open and close the taps to allow the temperature to rise or drop as needed, which will help stabilize the mash tun’s temperature.

Maintaining Water Temperature for Mashout:
Keep the remaining water from the initial boiling pot on the stove with the lid on so it stays at 100°C without losing liquid. This water will be used for the mashout process.

Once 1 hour has passed, remove the mashtun tubing and connect it to a clean pot (preferably one with a tap for easier draining).

Dump the remaining water into the mashtun and open the tap to drain the wort.

Continue with Brewing Process:
After draining the wort from the mashtun into the new pot, place it back on the stove and continue to follow the instructions of the recipe.

I am new to the game, but this seems to be working for me. and iv started getting a feel for setting the kettles temps so typically i can just time skip the 1 hour and the temps stay almost exactly at the temp it needs.
