BUT, to use them currently you need a brew pot with a tap. Water in/out as expected with sink. Pot Top -> Chiller Wort In, Chiller Wort out -> Top of Pot.
They go in brew pots, you circulate cold water through them. I have no idea what you wanted to try pouring mash through it. The basic chiller doesn't zero your IBUS (I think they all are meant to lower IBUS, but the higher grades missed a few zeros and empty completely)
I dont think is a bug , im not a beer maker so i dont know, but from what i have seen is if you only use them in the contamination window 50c-30c i think it is, you lessen the lose of IBU and flavor so then if you "overshoot" your goal, everything then settles out just fine i feel the more powerful the cooler the more the "lose" so bal;ance and math is needed,the this however does not effect the imersion cooler as the wort never leaves the pot. so it works if is a bug i dont know but seems to make sense is a trade off.
