Some feedback about the new game mechanics
While I was playing today in a more "complete" way (last -and first- time I played I was just second-guessing everything, so now I had more knowledge, besides the game has been updated since then), I found some details I think are worth posting since the game is still early access and receiving player feedback is the main purpose of early access(?

(Contains spoilers below, be aware~)

The first thing is regarding player's decitions. In the original OneShot, it was said that "your actions here will affect Niko", and so it was; what you do don't really "break" or "kill" NPCs, but may have an effect on Niko. However, I was very impressed when accidentally gave Mender the photo. Because that choice does indeed have a rather strong effect on Menderbot... as what you do next will decide either if Mender dies or becomes closer to Niko. So what I suggest is (perhaps at the start, together with the instructions) to detail this difference with the original game. That your choices also have a great effect on the world and its population
And the second thing (also related to Menderbot lol) is that I only found that you could save him by mere chance. I was doing another run and (because I was doing things faster), took him out of the rocks fast enough to save him. Going around this community I found that it was a timed event, you actually have to act fast to save him. My recommendation here is to put a timer on the screen to let you know that you have limited time to act. I'm not sure about how much time exactly you have to save Mender (perhaps some 10 seconds?) and in this precise case I think giving a couple more seconds would be neat. Again, this would be better for newcomers or people that don't have fast reactions. A small timer on the top-right corner of the screen with a llamative color should be enough.

That's mostly it. Clarifying some of the 'new' rules that are included in the mod. Hope the developers read this!
(A lil' thing, besides the game: i'm studying game design and development, just about to start the second semester. If you guys need any help, I would gladly take the chance to learn more about how things work in detail by being part of a team!)

Hey, we certainly read the forum and appreciate feedback!

You made great points which would've been addressed as you'd expect if OneShot was a normal game.
But the points you've mentioned are like that by design, for reasons such as immersion, rewarding exploration, and other reasons I will not spoil.

If you'd like to discuss it further, you're welcome to join our Discord server
I just rather not elaborate on it too much here so people are less likely to develop expectations :)
