Terrible, terrible terrible boss. Not a single fun thing about it and I feel zero satisfaction from fighting it. Literally the bed of chaos of lies of p. By far the WORST boss in all of lies of p so far. Extremely disappointing to see

Yeah it was pretty gross. The rest of the DLC is worth it though.

I like the dlc alot so far. But man was that boss terrible. Genuinely a bottom 5 boss out of every souls i've played. Markiona was wayyy better albeit super tanky. Although i will say alot of minibosses in areas are absurdly tanky, for being minibosses. Not sure why we're giving 15k health to some optional enemy that doesnt have a proper health bar

Definitely a low point... The good news is the only fights that come anywhere close to being as flat are optional instead, and every proper major boss is very fleshed out by contrast. If you liked Markiona, you're in for a good time with the rest.

As for the random 15k HP minibosses, part of me thinks other miniboss-type enemies sprinkled throughout the DLC were meant to be things you burn fable and legion meter on, since non-boss enemies are so fragile in the base game (even similar minibosses) that fables tend to be more like delete buttons than actual factors in combat. Some base game encounters are nominally a big deal and then fold after landing a couple of heavy attacks, then pummeling them when they're down...

I think the apex over stays its welcome, as its simple move set just repeats a lot.

Though i did learn that attacking its open mouth when it was winding up its grab would stagger it. At least a fully charged shot from cataclysm would stagger it out of a grab.

do you mean a regular stagger or a unique stagger for that situation?
Cataclysm has enormous stagger especially if it counterhits

It looked kinda unique, able to do it twice in a row. Makes me wonder if it takes extra stagger on all its open mouth attacks.

interesting, I'll give that a shot (put) next time I run through
I do not know if a grab counts as a attack, so i do not know if i was getting the counter hit bonus.

as far as cata counterhits are concerned, I'm not sure what exactly the game looks for to trigger them, but it can absolutely trigger off of grabs (like those brainsucker-esque carcasses with the scorpion tails that love hiding around corners). There's a very distinct sound that plays and blue sparks get added to the explosion

It's honestly fine, IMO, just a little pedestrian. Unlike, say, the mutated elephant miniboss, it doesn't really come with any particular surprises, just chomping and tailswiping. The secret to beating it is, IMO, not to try parrying it very much, but just dodging instead, ideally with some fire damage added on top.

All in all a fairly forgettable boss. Woulda been a better crocodile boss if it had at least had a kickass soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCVrdE5HbTk

Just dodge most of its attacks. Only attacks you'll likely deflect is it's wide mouth attack and head slam attack
