Besides which, the game cycle now assumes the dlc has been run which means if the first play of the dlc occurs on NG+, it has to assume loot/levels gained from a previous cycle. Not many players at this point will have been able to see the differences between dlc new game and ng+ yet having run it in multiple cycles.
Read the article.
I did run a test between base NG and NG+ for the DLC.
I was getting cooked in NG+ too in the DLC to a point where I refused to believe this much damage was intended. So I "borrowed" a savegame from "somewhere" that was in base NG.
My NG+ character was lvl 180ish on NG+ (not NG+2 or 3 or slt). The base NG character was lvl 90ish, with a lot less health (25 base ng vs 60 ng+)
The hardest difficulty on base NG (Legendary Stalker) still felt like ten times easier than the lowest possible (Butterfly's Guidance) difficulty on the NG+ character and the base NG character could survive more hits than the NG+ character.
I think that tells you, that something is up with the NG+ scaling for the DLC. It should not have made such a huge difference being in NG+ compared to base NG, imo.
Playing NG+2, reached first big boss, balance is great. Like, 5-10% harder than base game. I'm sure coz I've just run 9 chapters with all side quests to get to DLC.
First big DLC boss doing same 4-5 hits to kill as any other bosses.
The only difference is tiny frame windows and only multihit attacks
Biggest problem is wolves, I've spent like 4 lives against group of 3 wolves, coz they just attack without pauses
NG+ SHOULD be a lot harder than base NG. We already proved we had the skill to win on NG and we get a ton of bonuses on NG+ with more p-organ upgrades, upgraded amulets and armor, and of course just more levels so we can easily pump vit to 100 by the time you reach the DLC on NG+.
The DLC feels perfectly playable even if every enemy 2 shot you (which they won't if you have proper vitaility). You have the tools to not get hit more than once in a row and a ton of healing items.
In NG+3 I've got 987 health and none of the weak tier of enemy 2 shot me as far as I'm aware. Even then though, you usually can dodge out between their hits as long as you don't rush in and get surrounded.
I'd consider the monkey guys to be mid tier enemies, they probably will kill you in two hits unless you are discharged.
In fact, if you've got enough of the upgrades, you might ironically have an easier time exploring while discharged. You get the charge back pretty quickly with everything that increases it and the damage reduction and guard regain increase is pretty substantial.
agreed please leave legendary alone.. idk i tried a few of the tanky mobs on lower settings an they were way easier to kill an this is on ng+3 i'm kinda not getting the purpose of the patch cause lowering the setting to make it doable seems to work fine
I ended up using them for the boss, which made the battle quite trivial. It definitely felt unbalanced - both too easy and too hard. It was up to the items and circumstances to turn up right. I didn't even have the chance to learn his moves but it was still alright.
I also think the team mate is quite overpowered https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR5K0mYAhK0
I had to replay a bit of the DLC on NG+ 5 to get the last record after the new patch and I honestly still don't get why they nerfed the basic monsters. I liked the challenge before. I don't mind it anymore since I completed it before the patch, so not too much of a loss I suppose.
