[SPOILERS] What's the community's consensus on the first DLC boss?
Just started with the DLC, and personally, this crocodile was my least favorite boss I've ever fought in a soulsborne, no contest. Animal enemies are always the worst kinds of enemies in the genre from my experience, with bad hitboxes, poor telegraphing and overall glitchy behavior, and this boss was no exception. It was the one and only time in the game that I lowered the difficulty because I wasn't really having fun, and even then he was incredibly tough to beat as the camera would constantly have a stroke, he would constantly take a step back after his combos which made counter-attacking impossible with a lot of my weapons, attacks that seem to only hit when you're character is already halfway buried into his body making parries and dodges extremely awkward and unintuitive to time, and his grab attack hit me from a mile away (as they tend to do in these kinds of games, which is why I don't think they belong in the genre. But that's a whole different topic entirely)

Absolutely adored the rest of the game, and never really struggled for long against any other boss (yes even Laxasia and Nameless Puppet were challenging but not a roadblock, with Nameless Puppet easily being my favorite boss in the game) so this boss was a bit of a whiplash. It just felt so poorly designed compared to the rest of the game and really soured my mood.

But I want to know other people's opinions, and if anyone shares my pain (shared pain is half the pain, as they say). Also if anyone could tell me if the rest of the DLC is also full of these animal-type enemies or not, would be appreciated. A simple yes or no answer without spoilers would be nice.

This crocodile boss is probably one of the least favorite bosses in the DLC. He is there just to be there, he isn't even a main boss, just a bigger mini boss lol.
He's basically everything wrong with Elden Ring Shadow of the Eldtree Golden Hippo without the thing that makes the Golden Hippo interesting.
He's not as hard a people make him out to be, but he's definitely poorly designed. Far too large for the room with wonky timing and boxes. I like the idea of him, but his size really is the biggest problem (pun intended). At this stage he's not as had as he was pre-nerf.

That is my 6 year old niece's favorite boss. She had me get summoned there time and time again just to watch that thing beat me and my homies around.
Crocodile was okay. Didn't have any particularly strong feelings about it one way or another, which puts it at the bottom of the DLC pile as I had positive feelings about every encounter with a healthbar at the bottom of the screen.

Honourable mention to the elephant abomination who probably deserved a healthbar like that, and I suspect the only reason it didn't get one is that it would ruin the surprise.
As a Monster Hunter fanatic, I absolutely loved it.

Personally don't understand croc hate. I love big bosses with big windups, and predator is just that. I feel like there's clear indications for stuff you're meant to dodge and stuff you're meant to parry, and I liked the challenge behind positioning myself to stay centered and in front of him so I wouldn't get cornered too quickly

I also like golden hippo so maybe I'm just insane, but I really like beast bosses in general

I don't hate it, but it's my weakest of the DLC, yeah.
Don't really have any issue with the hitboxes and telegraphing, and definitely no glitchy behavior.
But i disliked the most that he easily pushes me around, which doesn't even do damage by itself but messes up the camera big time, never has my back literally been against the wall this many times in a fight.
It's not a camera issue but a boss & arena issue.

Other than that?
I like all areas, especially chapter 5, though chapter 4 probably drags on for too long for my taste.
I like all special weapons, haven't used the normal weapons enough aside from the Laxasia weapon.
I like all other bosses and mini-bosses pretty much.
Music is stellar.
Story/Lore is fantastic and the way they present it is one of the things i think Lies of P does better than any Fromsoft game.
The cat's collar crosses over into the basegame.

The Crocodile was ok for me. Not bad, not good. Serviceable. It scores more points for being somewhat different in this game.

The one that I hated the most was the rematch with the "younger" swamp beast. Was one of my least favorite bosses in the main game, and here constantly recovers hp when it grabs you. Watching him flee was nice, though.

The "Anguished b*stard of the hole" was quite awful, not because of the fight in self, but because the massive hp pool. Wasn't a bad boss, though.

I hated Lumacchio at first, but it grew on me, and I think it's a pretty good boss fight.

Veronique made go "OH, COME ON!!!" when she "freed" herself from some of the backstabbings.

And I totally hate the Arlecchino's "water fowl".

I think the DLC is great overall, as it is the game.

Cheers!

I finally started the DLC for the first time and beat the croc in 3 tries. It's kind of hard to read the parry timings on his attacks, but I thought he would be harder given all the complaints I've seen about him.

I don't know how the scaling on the DLC works, though. Are any stats different based on when you enter it?

Yeah...
I wish I could poll the whole community to see how many people actually dodge boss attacks. Crocodile probably becomes a lot easier if you took Link Dodge from the start of the skill tree, since it makes it easier to just dodge all of his long-winded grab attacks.
