DLC also is more of what the game is, harder and you can't access it before getting around middle of the game. And it's at the price of the game itself in sale.
The game alone would already make it much more worth
About the game itself, yeah I found the beginning very slow too. The fact the game almost has no music outside of boss battles and key events for ""immersion"" and ""epicness buildup of the game"" didn't help at all.
Had to add music on the side by myself even for many bosses because I didn't fell the music as epic as visuals/gameplay and motivating to keep trying and trying. Which is sad because imo that's the only part of the game which is lacking, outside of few tracks.
However after the first boss (not mini-boss), the story becomes more and more present and the game gets less empty and I'm happy I played it
So if you haven't already, get Nioh 2 instead, as it is a better game, but LoP's parrying mechanics make it absolutely outstanding once the combat clicks for you.
I 100%ed wo long, and i can confirm that it is mid, but it is still fun, hope that a wo long 2 would fix all the issues like nioh 2 did for nioh.
But do not forget we are getting nioh 3 next year.
Easily my GOTY 2025 so far. Expedition 33 can suck it.
It is also, as previously stated, GOTY 2025, although you may bounce off it if you dislike open-world exploration in an Elden Ring-like manner.
I would say, though, if you beat the first boss and didn't like the game, I'd be wary of the 2 hour refund limit. I'm a big fan of Lies of P and it's narrative, but gameplay is gameplay.
I would also like to add that the game is sadly very linear and that can be pretty boring at times and thus can be pretty quick to complete and the difficulty isn’t really bad once you get used to it and actually level up and find a fun weapon.
I'd say for it being their first souls like, they did an amazing job, combat wise i prefer this over Froms games mostly due to From depending on i-frames, while this game you have far less so you tend to actually dodge the attack. This game also has far less instant death bs compared to From.
Personally, i really like the level design from DS1, with all the areas kinda looping together, but i also enjoy the linear aspect of LoP. Currently i have high expectations for LoP2.
45 minutes is literally the intro. thats like dying to the asylum demon and saying "this is boring"
give it time. its a very fun game and opens up in a lot of ways if you give it some patience
