Humanity Question *SPOILERS FOR ENDGAME*
So, one of the late game decisions that becomes a deciding factor as to what ending you’ll get, giving Sophia Peace or not. The Free From the Puppet String ending is the only one I have yet to get, and while I may *try* to let Sophia live (I know she dies anyway but not doing the deed yourself locks you out of the best ending) on my current NG+ playthrough to receive the aforementioned ending (which I consider Neutral at best, I have already seen the worst outcome), I do know that if your humanity isn’t high enough and you give Sophia peace, P’s hair doesn’t change color and you won’t be getting the best ending. Not only that, but if P’s humanity isn’t high enough by the time you talk to Gepetto after beating Simon, you automatically get the Real Boy Ending which is of course the de-facto bad ending (definitely never getting that again, I got it by giving up my heart after dying to the Nameless Puppet so much on my first playthroygh). So, that begs the question, regarding the choice with Sophia and the final meeting with Daddy Gepetto, exactly how high does your humanity need to be for P’s hair color to change (which will lock you out of Free From Puppet String), versus how high it needs to be to be able to refuse Gepetto when he asks P for his heart? I was thinking lying until I get the humanity message “the ergo is whispering,” but ignoring every record that gives you humanity until I make the choice with Sophia? Then listening to them all afterwards?

If you wanted to finagle a run that does so anyway, I think your strategy should work. You could postpone some big humanity chunks from sidequests that would still be doable, like telling Eugenie about her brother or telling Arlecchino you’re human. If you see the “You feel warmth” message pop up any time you’re gaining post-Sophia, you should have more than enough.

If you see that message BEFORE Sophia, then you likely have too much for your purposes and giving her peace will lock you into the good ending.
